America is facing unprecedented times. Never before in our 234 year history have we faced so many major issues concurrently. Beyond the fact that we owe others preposterous amounts of money and beyond the fact that our educational, political, and medical fields are all suffering, we have a bigger problem which few seem to be talking about. This problem is much bigger than all the others and will never be corrected through the electoral process no matter who is in office. This problem is so widespread that it permeates every community, school, and home in the nation. Every family is affected. The problem is sin and it is destroying our nation!

Now before you turn me off and move on to your next email, just hear me out. This is important.

Could it be that America and even the world at large is facing political and economic decline simply because of our moral decay? Is there a link between our sin and our degradation?

General Douglass MacArthur made an interesting observation once. He said, "History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration to ultimate national disaster."

Certainly General MacArthur was no saint and certainly he is neither a historian nor theologian. But what he observed is historical fact. There are no exceptions.

So let me ask, "Are you going to contribute to the spiritual awakening that will occur in our land or are you going to be part of the national disaster?"

For America to be restored to health as a people, it is going to take genuine, heartfelt, meaningful repentance on the part of Christians all across our country! It's going to take a turning away from sin - even the smallest of sin! It's going to take you and it's going to take me deciding that we will choose God over self.

Why is this necessary? Because that which is Holy (God), cannot and will not co-exist with that which is unholy (people's sin). These are simply the eternal rules and order of our Creator.

Founding Father John Adams once wisely stated, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." In other words, our Constitution and the liberties that it assures simply will not and does not work without God.

When you sin, you throw a dagger into the heart and soul of our nation's future. When we together sin without repentance, we strike a mighty blow into our process of recovery as a nation! But (and praise God for it), when we repent and surrender ourselves to God, He promises to "heal the land" and to transform us to glory!

Oh I know this is not popular talk, but might it be true? Let me simply ask, "Why would God restore a nation or a people or even a family whose God is self?"

Think about it and do what you need to do!

Today's Scripture

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that
times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
Acts 3:19

"The world today is again in dfesperate need of a spiritual awakening. It is the only

hope for the survival of the human race."

Billy Graham

Today's Prayer

"Father thank you for the amazing grace that has brought us to salvation and hope. Help us not to fix our eyes on the things of this world, but to fix them on You, our Salvation. You alone are worthy and You alone deserve to be praised. Lord, we seek to be holy. We ask you Holy Spirit to continuously work in our hearts and our lives. Bring us to a place where we have a true hatred for sin. Help us not to dabble in or drift in the trappings of this world, but help us to draw near to you. We ask you Holy Spirit, to fill us to overflowing with a great love for God. May You fill us so much that everyone we come in contact with is confronted with love and forever changed by it. Lord Jesus, redeem us from all wickedness and purify us so that we can do what is good and what is right. We love you God and we declare our dependence upon you."
