Those who founded this nation knew that morality and faith were the basis of American democracy and that our nation would not continue without it. For example, look at the words of our first four Presidents:
"The foundation of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality; . . . the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained." George Washington's Inaugural Address; 1st President, United States of America
"Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams, 2nd President of the United States of America
"Can the liberties of a nation be sure when we remove their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people, that these liberties are a gift from God?" Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President, United States of America
"We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self-government." James Madison, 4th President of the United States of America and the "Father of the U.S. Constitution"
One does not have to be a professional researcher to recognize that morality in America is spiraling out of control. In a new Gallup poll, 45% of those surveyed described morality in the U.S. as "poor." Amazingly, 15% called morality in America as "excellent or good." (I hope that these people aren't your neighbor!)
CNN's Jack Cafferty reported on the poll and asked the question, "What is wrong with us?" Of course, the "professionals" and basic know-it-alls provided their broad list of reasons morality is in decline. As usual, they pointed to a failing educational system, the break-down of the family, drugs and alcohol usage, etc. Amazingly, the "wise ones" can't connect the dots!
After 1962 when prayer was taken out of schools, we have been under a constant barrage for the removal of all things Christian in the public arena. As the 10 Commandments got canned from public placement and Nativity scenes were put into corporate warehouses, our nation has slipped into an absolute state of ignorance, oblivion, and utter despair.
Former President, Theodore Roosevelt once stated, "The teachings of the Bible are so interwoven with our whole civic and social life that it would be literally impossible for us to figure what life would be if those teachings are removed."
Well Mr. President, let me show you: Since this movement in 1962 occurred to remove all things Christian, there has been a 560% increase in violent crime; a 419% increase in illegitimate births; a quadrupling in divorce rates; a tripling of the percentage of children living in single-parent homes; more than a 200% increase in the teenage suicide rate; and a drop of almost 80 points in SAT scores (college entrance exams). I could keep going, but quite honestly I am getting sickened by reading all the "professional opinion" nonsense in preparation for this email! So please allow me to move on.
The government of course, has spent an inordinate amount of money and time in an attempt to reverse our social ills. Since 1962, the government's inflation-adjusted spending on welfare has increased by 630%; spending on education by 225%; and social programming has increased five-fold, all while morality and societal issues have continue to disintegrate. Looks to me like it's time we try something different!
How about go back to God?
