Laus Deo!
The Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. stands 555 feet tall. Construction on the memorial to the first president began in 1845, but was not completed until 1888. By law, no building can ever be built taller than this monument constructed of stone and marble weighing more than 90,000 tons. While the monument attracts 800,000 visitors per year, most of them do not realize that within it's cornerstone is a Bible (along with other articles of Americana) and at it's peak is a aluminum cap with the words, "Laus Deo" which are Latin words meaning "Praise be to God." Let us pray today that we as a nation may return to the cornerstone of our faith, Jesus Christ and that God may be praised like never before. Let praise begin with you!

Today's Word from the Holy Bible
"Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: 'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!'
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!' The four living creatures said, 'Amen,' and the elders fell down and worshiped." Revelation 5:11-14 (NIV) |

Today's Prayer
"Father, for the abundant blessings of life and liberty I am so very grateful. And to live in this country whose foundation was established on those very blessings I am humbly thankful. Let me be constantly reminded that without you there is no true liberty, and life loses its abundance apart from you. Father, in the quiet of this hour against the clamor of the world around me, give me wisdom in prayer. I would ask that you heal our land. I would implore that you renew our country to a desire for holiness. I would raise my voice in hope that you would shake this earthly kingdom to a fresh allegiance to Godly pursuits. I would pray these things. But I pray this day, this hour, this moment that you cultivate the kingdom of my own heart, my soul, and my life to grow and ripen in your love and grace. It is only then that I have confidence in faith to ask your blessing on your people and this country in which so many dwell."
