Fun Facts

Mufasa

1. Cats have between 20/100 and 20/20 vision at close range. They can see black, white, various shades of gray, blue, green, and yellow, but not red. Their vision is sharpest at 2 to 3 feet.

2. A cat up to 3 feet away from the origin of a sound can pinpoint its location to within a few inches in 0.6 seconds. They can do this by rotating their satellite-dish ears 180 degrees to funnel sound into the ear canal.

3. A cat's sense of smell is keen. Its olfactory membrane is about 14 square centimeters compared to 4 square centimeters in humans.

4. The rich nerve endings of whiskers register very small changes in air pressure, enabling cats to move adeptly in the dark. Whiskers are twice as thick as hairs, and are three times deeper.

5. When cats rub on objects or people, they are "marking" them with pheromones. These are released from tiny glands located all over the cat's body, including around the mouth and in between their toes!

Here's the number everyone has been asking about: 555 animals!

Yes, our wonderful vets spayed and neutered 252 dogs and 303 cats over the three days.

We've heard some heart-warming stories from attendees and we're forever grateful to have been able to work with the Montana Spay/Neuter Task Force to bring this opportunity to Sheridan County.

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to all of the local businesses and individuals that supported the event - they will be listed on our website in the near future, and we hope you will join us in extending our gratitude!

The Story of Dexter
Dexter
Dexter

The adorable Dexter came to our event to be  neutered. At that time one of our veterinarians,  Dr. Jeff Young from Denver, noticed Dexter  needed more than just one surgery - his back  legs are fused together as a result of an earlier  accident. Dr. Young offered Dexter's family a  deal - if they could get him to Colorado, he  would repair Dexter's legs for free.

You can imagine how happy Dexter's family is! We are working with other rescuers throughout WY and CO to get Dexter a round-trip transport.

If you would like to donate to Dexter's cause (gas money for the drivers) please do so on our website - just write a memo that the donation is for Dexter and we'll make sure it gets to the right place!

Foster Homes needed!
Picture of Evy
Evy needs a
foster home!

We still need foster homes from many of our special-needs cats. We've had great luck adopting out kittens, but some of our very loving senior kitties need a home.

A common cat myth is that adult cats do not bond with families like kittens do - we can assure you that is not the case! If anything, adult rescued cats are even more loving than kittens because they are so grateful to be in a loving home. Please call us to meet some of our wonderful babies!

We hope you are enjoying the start of summer!

Sincerely,

Rachel Kristiansen
