Volunteer with us!
3 cats in a box
Everyday we wake up and spend our day doing what we love the most - saving the lives of cats and kittens!

Would you like to join us? There are many ways in which we save lives.

Did you know about our elderly assistance program? We go into the homes of elderly cat-owners and help them care for their kitties. We can always use volunteers to help us with this!

Did you know we are starting a humane education program in local schools? We need volunteers to go into classrooms with us to teach children about proper pet care and the importance of spaying and neutering pets.

Did you know we are trying to host a Spay/Neuter Clinic in the spring? We need a lot of volunteers to help plan and organize this.

If you have a few extra hours in your week, we would love your help. Kids can get involved, too!

Just give us a call at 307-752-5807.

We look forward to hearing from you!

CELEBRATE YOUR CAT
IT'S NATIONAL CAT DAY!
Greetings!

Happy National Cat Day! This day was founded by Colleen Paige with the sole purpose of finding homes for 10,000 cats in shelters nationwide.

So today, make sure to give your kitty some extra loving, and maybe a can or two of tuna. He deserves it!

Colleen puts it best: "Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods... cats have never forgotten this."

Mufasa
Mufasa
We recently lost our beloved Mufasa.

Mufasa came to us at the request of the Dog and Cat Shelter. His owner had died, and 20 year-old Mufasa was depressed, sick, and was estimated to have 2 months to live. We took him in to give him some extra love during his last days.

That was 4 years ago! Mufasa thrived at SCSCR. He became the wise father of the group, and even had the dogs doing what he asked of them. Completely toothless, he still wrestled and played like a kitten. He was truly a blessing to have in our lives.

Mufasa was diagnosed with kidney disease a couple of years ago. He fought bravely and continued to show unconditional love for everyone. Two weeks ago, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, laying in his favorite bed.

We knew Mufasa deserved a very special resting place. He is buried up in the Big Horn Mountains, overlooking a beautiful valley with a clear view of Sheridan. We know everyday that Muf is watching over us, and making sure we don't do anything he wouldn't want us to do!

We're in a children's book!
Lil' Bear
Lil' Bear

Well, one of our special kitties is, anyway. Lil' Bear is the brave adventurer in Linda Everhart's new book, "Lil' Bear's Adventure." Linda is a long time supporter and friend. Lil' Bear has been with us for 5 great years. He has a digestive disorder that sometimes gives him problems, but he is a joy to have. We hope you get a copy of this book so you can have a Lil' Bear in your life, too!

The book can be ordered directly from the publisher, Xlibris.

Congratulations, Linda!
No More Homeless Pets
We recently attended the 2010 No More Homeless Pets conference hosted by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Las Vegas. We learned so much information and met many amazing people who have dedicated their lives to saving animals.

We have returned to Sheridan with an arsenal of life-saving tools. Watch for our next newsletter for more details of what we are up to!
Have a wonderful National Cat Day and a safe and happy Halloween. Be sure to check out Pet-o-Ween October 30th in Kendrick Park, which benefits the Dog and Cat Shelter.

Sincerely,

Rachel Kristiansen
