Current Needs
If you would like to donate items instead of cash, here is a list of our immediate needs. Save your receipts - donated items are tax deductable, too.

Stainless steel food and water bowls - these are more sanitary for the cats and easier to clean.

Paper towels - we go through several rolls a week from cleaning.

Cat beds - our beds are washed up to twice a week, so some of them need to be replaced due to excessive use.

Baby food - kittens and senior animals go through a lot of baby food. Chicken, turkey, or beef baby food is welcome.

Greetings!

Everyone has wondered at some time in their life if they have made a difference in this world. You may have asked yourself, "am I appreciated?" or "can I change anything?"

I want to tell you today that YES, you are appreciated, and YES! You can change the world.

"But," you say, "there are so many problems in the world, I can't possibly give enough to make a difference."

$25 made a difference to Aries last week. He was updated on his vaccines and is now safe from diseases for another year.

$50 made a difference to Padfoot. He had an infection in his mouth and now can eat without pain.

$100 made a difference to Thor. His neutering made him safe from certain cancers and prevents him from bringing more kittens into the world.

Why do I share this with you? Because you can make a difference. Even a small donation of $5 will contribute to caring for a cat or kitten we have brought into our sanctuary.

I know that when you read Polly's story below, you will help us save her life - just look at her little face and try to tell her you can't spare $5 to help her feel better.

Picture of Polly
My name is Polly. I am 4 weeks old and I have 6 toes on each front paw and 5 toes on each back paw. I am very sweet and I like to be held against people's chests so I can hear their heart. It reminds me of my mommy, who I miss very much.

I don't play very much right now because I don't feel well at all. I can't breathe through my nose and my eyes are infected and swollen. I have to take medicine a lot and I don't like it. They tell me I have a "virus" that has to run its course. There are special eyedrops that would help me, but they are very, very expensive.

My eyes really hurt and I need to get these special eyedrops. Would you please help me buy them and pay for all my trips to the vet? When I am feeling better, I will give you a kitten kiss on the nose.

Business Sponsors
Our sponsorship program has picked up and local businesses are even getting in on the life-saving action.

We'd like to extend special thanks to The Rock Stop and Sheridan TRX for their monthly sponsorship of one of our cats.

If you own a local business and would like to sponsor a special-needs cat or kitten at our sanctuary, contact us or visit our sponsor page.

We will be creating a page on the website to promote these businesses as part of our gratitude.

Don't own a business? Ask your employer if they would like to participate or, instead, if they would be willing to match your one-time tax-deductable donation.
New "miracle" litter discovered
One the foremost reasons cats are relinquished to shelters is inappropriate elimination - that is, not using the litter box. There are many reasons your cat may stop using it's box (see our resources pages for more information).

We have a few cats here at SCSCR that struggle with using our multiple litter boxes - it's why we go through so many paper towels! However, we recently discovered a new litter that has reformed our cleaning regimen.

Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract was formulated by a veterinarian to attract your cat to the litter box. We were skeptical at first - we have some pretty diehard anti-litter kitties. But low-and-behold, we put the litter in a test box, and our senior cat Belle, who has not used the litter box in months, took one sniff, squatted down, and urinated! We were convinced.

Cat Attract is a clay-based litter - as you may know, we prefer the corn-based World's Best Cat Litter, because it is dust-free and long-lasting. However, if you are having litterbox problems, definitely check out this new product. You can order it online or buy it at PetSmart.

Happy Scooping!
We hope you are having a wonderful start to autumn. We wish all the best to you and your family members (including the furry ones!) and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Rachel Kristiansen
