Soccer KEMistry at the Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP)?
Effective August 1st 2010, Coach Kem officially became the Skills coach for the Kansas ODP. He is in charge of Skills development with a focus on improving the players foot skills. Below is a link to five skills he demonstrated at the August 1st meeting.

Soccer KEMistry at All American Indoor Sports (AAIS)?
The Soccer KEMistry Lab will be stationed at AAIS effective on Sunday, November 7th. Soccer KEMistry was able to obtain the space that was previously utilized by KC Sports Speed. Initially only the Sunday sessions, will be at AAIS but based on response and your support the plan is to add more days. Due to the financial commitment will be required to rent the indoor facility, Soccer KEMistry will be restructuring time span to obtain a longer term commitment from its KEMists to ensure it will have demand to fulfill its lease obligation. We will send out the new format for the Winter sessions which will begin November 1st.

"Coach Kem first caught my eye at Electric Park where he conducts his outdoor sessions and camps. I would often stop and watch what he was doing while I was setting up the field for my own youth soccer practices. When I finally approached him, I was thrilled to discover what he had to offer. My son, Matthew, began attending his sessions the very next week and hasn't stopped for the last 1 ˝ years. Matthew's game has certainly elevated during this time and he never tires of attending Coach Kem's sessions. Since that time, most of my players have attended at least four of his sessions; some much longer than that. Coach Kem never stops teaching and never gives up on any individual who attends his sessions. You will often see him stop the drill, run over to a player, give a quick demo, have the player repeat it and then restart the drill. He'll do this as often as necessary throughout the session. His point scoring system can sometimes be baffling to the kids yet it promotes a healthy, competitive spirit amongst them. I have coached high school varsity teams in many sports for many years. I have a hard time giving them my recommendation unless I am certain the instructor and/or camp emphasizes skills over drills; or, skill development within the drills. Skills levels - There are five (5) Skills levels. A player can participate in a Skill level session once they have achieved 3 out of 5 Skills at that level. They will graduate from that level once they have passed all five Skills. Once they have graduated, they will be eligible to wear the color shirt which signifies that level. Coach will evaluate new players to ensure they are attending the appropriate skill level.

*The Apprentice KEMist (Level 4) do not have any minimum requirement and do not have a specific color shirt. Apprentice KEMists can utilize the White KEMistry shirt.
Answer that question without words. The color of your shirt will be the way to let the world know that you got KEMistry. If you want to keep your level under cover by wearing your white KEMistry shirt, the show of your fingers will also let a person know your current level.
The colored shirts are available! The Platinum is for the Ultimate KEMist. The Gold is for Premier KEMist, Blue is for Senior KEMist and Orange is for Junior KEMist. If you have not achieved one of these levels as yet or if you would like to keep your KEMist level a secret, you can wear the White shirt. There are two types of shirts: Gidan (cotton) and Nike (DRI-FIT). KEMistry members get the DRI-FIT shirt free! The regular costs are as follows: cotton $20 and DRI-FIT $40.

Coach and Founder Kem Thomas
Coach Kem grew up in the Caribbean where he played international soccer for the Antigua and Barbuda youth and senior National teams. He also played professionally for the Leyton Pennant Soccer Club in England and the Tulsa Roughnecks in Oklahoma. He has a USSF National 'C' coaching license and coaches 97/96, 98/97, and 02/03 boys teams for the KC United Soccer Club. He is also the Skills coach for the Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP). |

Coach Dalio Mercado
Coach Dalio is originally from Bogotá, Colombia, where he played professional soccer. He also played college soccer for Park University, in Parkville, Mo., where he earned an All-District selection. Dalio earned a degree in Computer Science in1993. Today he works for CenturyLink. He has earned his USSF National 'C' Coaching License. He has a son and a daughter who both play on premier soccer teams. | |
