Parents usually say "my child is already on a team and practicing twice a week". Being on a team and attending regular practice might not be enough to allow your son or daughter to achieve their goals. As a coach and a former professional and international player, I can tell you from experience that the time spent at team practices is not enough to teach every single player the individual skills they need to succeed. If your son or daughter has any dreams of playing for the top premier teams, the varsity high school team, receiving a college scholarship, or landing a lucrative professional contract in the future, then your investment of time and money in Soccer KEMistry must be considered an invaluable investment. Soccer KEMistry is about teaching kids soccer skills in a fun and competitively friendly environment. The sessions focus on five specific Skills - Dribbling, Juggling, Moves, Passing/Receiving, and Shooting. Freestyle tricks are also incorporated into the sessions to improve self confidence. Stats are kept for the various skills from November - February of each year and the top 10 players have been posted to the KEMistry website since 2007. About a Senior KEMist at Soccer KEMistry! 
"Since Ali Burke started attending Soccer KEMistry in November 2008, she has made tremendous progress. I have posted her stats to the left but beyond the stats are things that may be immeasurable. After attending one Skills session per week for several months, in June 2009 she tried out for arguably the top Premier U12 girls team in Kansas and was offered a spot. In November 2009, after looking at the progress that she made after attending only one session per week, she made a decision to take her game to the next level by attending Skills sessions twice per week. In the four months since she has made her commitment, she has seen success in several areas. She has mastered several freestyle tricks and can perform virtually all of the moves. Her juggles went from her previous high of 12 to 182 by the end of January 2010 and in March 2010 she set her new record to 329. Her Passing/Receiving went from a previous high of 21 to a consistent 31 by the end of December 2009 and in January 2010 she tied the Soccer KEMistry record of 33. Her confidence seems to be sky-high and it translate to her performance on the field. She is now a starter on the team and plays a major role in the team's success. Skills levels - There are four (4) Skills levels. A player can participate in a Skill level session once they have achieved 3 out of 5 Skills at that level. They will graduate from that level once they have passed all five Skills. Once they have graduated, they will be eligible to wear the color shirt which signifies that level. Coach will evaluate new players to ensure they are attending the appropriate skill level.
Apprentice KEMist - The beginning!!
Dribbling - Complete the KEMistry obstacle course in greater than 10 seconds
Juggling - Complete less than 10 juggles
Moves - Knows less than 5 moves
Passing\Receiving - Complete less than 20 passes within 30 seconds
Shooting - Shooting speed is less than 25 miles per hour
Graduation - This is the beginning of the KEMistry process. A player can wear the white KEMistry shirt until they have earned the right to wear another color.
Dribbling - Complete the KEMistry obstacle course between 8 - 10 seconds
Juggling - Complete between 10 - 50 juggles
Moves - Knows between 5 - 10 moves
Passing\Receiving - Complete between 20 - 28 passes within 30 seconds
Shooting - Shooting speed is between 25 - 45 miles per hour
Graduation - Once a player has successfully completed all five (5) Skills, they will be considered a Junior KEMist and will be eligible to wear the Orange KEMistry shirt. A player should be able to complete three of the five Skills to attend a Junior KEMist Skills session.
Senior KEMist - (Blue KEMistry Shirt)
Dribbling - Complete the KEMistry obstacle course in less than 8 seconds
Juggling - Complete more than 50 juggles
Moves - Knows more than 10 moves
Passing\Receiving - Complete more than 28 passes within 30 seconds
Shooting - Shooting speed is more than 45 miles per hour
Graduation - Once a player has successfully completed all five (5) Skills, they will be considered a Senior KEMist and will be eligible to wear the Blue KEMistry shirt. A player should be able to complete three of the five Skills to attend a Senior KEMist Skills session.
Dribbling- Complete the KEMistry obstacle course in less than 7 seconds
Juggling - Complete more than 100 juggles
Moves - Knows more than 15 moves
Passing\Receiving - Complete more than 30 passes within 30 seconds
Shooting - Shooting speed is more than 50 miles per hour
Graduation - Once a player has successfully completed all five (5) Skills, they will be considered a Premier KEMist and will be eligible to wear the Gold KEMistry shirt. A player should be able to complete three of the five Skills to attend a Premier KEMist Skills session.

"Coach Kem first caught my eye at Electric Park where he conducts his outdoor sessions and camps. I would often stop and watch what he was doing while I was setting up the field for my own youth soccer practices. When I finally approached him, I was thrilled to discover what he had to offer. My son, Matthew, began attending his sessions the very next week and hasn't stopped for the last 1 ˝ years. Matthew's game has certainly elevated during this time and he never tires of attending Coach Kem's sessions. Coach and Founder Kem Thomas
Coach Kem grew up in the Caribbean where he played international soccer for the Antigua and Barbuda youth and senior National teams. He also played professionally for the Leyton Pennant Soccer Club in England and the Tulsa Roughnecks in Oklahoma. He has a USSF National 'C' coaching license and coaches 97/96 boys teams for the KC United Soccer Club and 02/03 boys for Soccer KEMistry. He also assists coaching the Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP). |

Coach Dalio Mercado
Coach Dalio is originally from Bogotá, Colombia, where he played professional soccer. He also played college soccer for Park University, in Parkville, Mo., where he earned an All-District selection. Dalio earned a degree in Computer Science in1993. Today he works for CenturyLink. He has earned his USSF National 'C' Coaching License. He has a son and a daughter who both play on premier soccer teams. | |
