Congratulations to Alex Plechash, American Hero #10.
If you are like a lot of us, true heroes are those people we don't know and who are in distant locations. But, the reality is that heroes exist everywhere including our own sphere of existence ... if we will just take time to notice. So it is with our American Hero #10, Alex Plechash. A business relationship brought us to know each other, but it wasn't until I started questioning him about his "other" life that I found out about the American Hero he really is. We happened to be sitting next to each other at a financial conference, and I just asked him a few questions which sparked my curiosity and led to more questions. I became increasingly amazed as I discovered the depth and width of his willingness to volunteer in numerous charitable causes.
Mr. Plechash is a former highly accomplished and significantly awarded Marine Corps officer having graduated at the top of his class from the Naval Academy. But his national service did not stop with his military career. He has continued to serve our country by being active in church, politics and civic affairs. He is currently Chapter President and National Trustee of the Naval Academy Alumni Association and, along with his wife, Denise, serves as a volunteer firefighter. Professionally, Mr. Plechash serves as an account representative for Folio Institutional, a highly innovative investment custodian.
But now, in addition to his numerous duties, Alex has agreed to focus his heart and passion on a new endeavor, one that bodes well for active military as well as veterans. Alex has just been named the incoming president for "Tee it up for the Troops" an organization dedicated to raising money for charities that help our active military and veterans in need. How many times do you run across charities whose goal is to raise money for OTHER charities?! Their goal is to give at least 95% of donated funds to organizations which are actively involved in helping our troops, veterans and/or their families ... so no heavy administration costs. To help with this ambitious goal Mr. Plechash will be shouldering this huge responsibility without the benefit of ANY compensation. Wow, that is impressive.
Thank you, Alex Plechash, for your willingness to help America by serving the needs of our active and former military!
