Greetings!
Welcome to our monthly newsletter series on optimizing your Wiffle Ball/Backyard Ball experience.  We will be providing monthly tips and information on the sport of Wiffle Ball, everything from pitching, hitting, building fields and more.  In this issue we will highlight a little bit about the history of Wiffle Ball.

We also want to hear from you.  Do you have a story about WIFFLE, tips on playing, pictures of your field, or information about an upcoming tournament or event, let us know and we'll share it.
History of the WIFFLE Ball
How it all began!

Wiffle Box LogoDid you know the original Wiffle Ball prototypes were hand cut from spherical molding used to package Coty perfume bottles? The Wiffle ball was invented back in the 1950's after former semi-pro pitcher David N Mullany set out to make a lightweight ball that would curve after his son complained his arm felt like jelly after trying to make other balls curve. After many trips back the the kitchen table, hand cutting and taping together the Mullany father-son team created the Wiffle Ball.

The boy who gave his dad the inspiration to develop the ball in the first place, also gave the ball it's now famous name.  This new ball was so hard to hit, it made batters "whiff", baseball slang for "strike out swinging"

This month's interesting use comes from the Peach Farm...
One of our commercial farms actually uses the yellow plastic Wiffle Ball bat to remove the peaches that are just out of hand reach from the trees.

Next month's newsletter will be about building backyard Wiffle Ball Fields...do you have a picture of your field or any advice you would like to share?  Let us know and we'll highlight it next month.
