New Safer Chemistry Challenge Program for Industry
|
Restricted substances lists, individual chemical bans, and new regulations are changing the nature of chemicals management globally. By incorporating green chemistry and toxics reduction strategies into your environmental management system, organizations can anticipate regulatory changes to stay ahead of these trends that will create business value to the company.
Today, many leading companies are working to develop products with safer chemistries as consumer demands increases. Keeping on top of chemical management regulations is a complex effort and new strategies are needed to confront these challenges.
Several important actions should be taken by companies to reduce the use of hazardous and toxic chemicals by:
- Utilizing hazard and risk screening tools to identify safer alternatives.
- Implementing systems that moving toward cleaner processes, including adopting greener, more sustainable technologies.
- Using green chemistry tools and designs that avoid the use and generation of toxic chemicals.
As a SAC Alliance Member, the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR) is working with companies to help implement chemical strategies through technical assistance and recognition. The 2025 Safer Chemistry Challenge Program (SCCP) is a program designed to fit your needs with the support and tools to be successful. Each company sets individual goals based on your internal priorities, industry sector needs, or federal and state identified concerns. NPPR will provide opportunities for training, assistance and recognition.
The SCCP offers industry a unique opportunity for public and private sector collaboration with the end result of a cleaner environment, improved corporate image, new market opportunities, and enhanced competitive advantage.
Additional information and resources can be found at www.p2.org/challenge.
