Worm of the Month: Dewormers - Moxidectin
What's New In Equine Parasitology?
Worm of the Month
We're continuing our series of 'Worm of the Month' articles about deworming medications.

This month:
Dewormers - Moxidectin

Moxidectin is a 'macrocyclic lactone' and one of three such dewormers for the equine market, along with ivermectin and albamectin. While not effective against flukes or tapeworms, moxidectin is effective against cyathostomes, or small strongyles, as well as other parasites such as bots. Overdosing is a real concern with moxidectin, especially when deworming foals or debilitated horses, and care should be taken in these circumstances.

Customer Alert - 2011 Price Increase

Price increases are an inevitable cost of doing business. We've tried to hold off as long as we could, but effective February 1, 2011, the cost of our samples, which includes the collection kit, postage, processing, and support, will increase slightly.

A large part of the reason for the increase is postage. If you'd like to help us keep our costs down, you can do so by mailing more than one sample in an envelope when you have more than one horse due at the same time. By mailing multiple samples per envelope, it can save us up to 50% on postage.

Our new prices will be:
One sample: $18
Two to five samples: $15 each
Six or more samples: $13 each

** As a courtesy to our loyal customers, any sample kits purchased prior to February 1st will remain 'on account' under the purchaser's name.

We appreciate your business...thank you for your understanding and support.
