This Month: Horsemen's Laboratory - In The News
Equestrian Lifestyle Expo: On Sunday, November 22nd, Dr.
Byrd gave a talk at the Equestrian Lifestyle Expo & Holiday Market,
presented by the Horsemen's Council of Illinois. His presentation, titled Are
The Worms Winning? The Lowdown on Rising Parasite Resistance, focused on the
current data showing that equine parasites are becoming increasingly resistant
to current deworming medications, and the deworming changes that are needed.
He's been asked to repeat the presentation at the Illinois Horse Fair in early
March. Next month's Worm Control News will feature highlights and key points from his talk.
Apples 'n Oats magazine: Dr. Byrd's article Resistance in
Equine Parasites Today is available for downloading in PDF format at the Apples 'n Oats Web site.
Newsflash e-newsletter: The Ascarids 'Worm of the Month'
article from the January 2010 issue of Worm Control News is being reprinted in
the Jan/Feb/March issue of Dr. Suzan Seelye's 'Newsflash' quarterly
e-newsletter. An educational resource for the clients of her Seattle-based
Healing Heart equine and small animal veterinary practice, Newsflash is
published four times per year through her Web site. Dr.
Seelye focuses on body/mind health and healing for animals using primarily
holistic methods, and reports that her goal is to empower people through
knowledge. "The parasite of the month articles are not only well written
and informative but easy to understand, a great combo for education," she says. Readers of Newsflash will receive a special surprise bonus.
