Mad River Glen skiers Dave (left) and his brother Rob Leopold, cut their ski vacation short last week after Dave injured himself on the second run of a week-long Colorado ski trip. Although he was injured, Dave took his hometown ski area's motto, "Ski It If You Can," to heart and skied several runs till he was no longer able to support his weight. Since the Leopolds and only a handful of other guests entered the photo contest, we stuffed the entry box and gave the free catskiing trip to the brothers.
Here's to a speedy recovery, Dave!

May the New Year bring peace and many, many powder days.

We opened mid-December after a three-foot dump blanketed the San Juan Mountains. Since then, several small storms have added to our base. And, although the winds (at times) have been fierce and the sun intense, we're skiing powder! With close to 60 square miles of permitted terrain, we have no shortage of powder stashes.

Sundogs and
Powderhounds
We were joined in early January by Australians Greg Doyle and Lyndell Kleating of Powder-
hounds.com, a website for U.S. and international skiers/ boarders sniffing out secret powder stashes and researching ski vacations. They were blessed with a beautiful bluebird day and deep powder for skiing and filming. The San Juan Ski Company will be featured on the website in mid-February. Check it out at www.powderhounds.com
