Over the next several weeks, you will be receiving a number of important emails about the Gamers winter program and related topics.  Please take time to read these emails and make sure that your son reads these emails.

There will be a important meeting on Thursday, September 27th at 8:15pm at All-Star Performance.    At this meeting, we will review off-season training program goals and plans for our 14u and above players.  The meeting will also cover nutritional plans.   
  
ALL 14u and 15u PLAYERS and ALL NEW 16u and 17u PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING.  
 
Returning 16u and 17u players are not required to attend unless you need a refresher on training and nutrition. 

For most of you, the primary thing that separates you from your baseball dreams is ATHLETICISM.   We have a comprehensive baseball program that takes care of skills and baseball knowledge.  We cannot teach ATHLETICISM.  That is up to you.  We can help you, but the sweat, pain and effort need to come from you.  You need to take responsibility for this -- no one else can. 

In the world of BBCOR bats, being bigger, faster and stronger will make all the difference.  Most of you are learning that there are few cheap hits with BBCOR or wood bats.  Pitching is going to be more fastball and control oriented.  Speed will become a more important part of the game.

Bat speed, foot speed and arm speed will dictate your success next summer and for the rest of your baseball career.

In preparation for this meeting, please do the following:
  • Reflect on your performance as a player over the past season.  What specific improvements in athleticism do you need to make to improve your baseball performance next season? Faster?  More Velocity?  More Bat Speed?
  • Print and fill out  your offseason training goals and plan BEFORE the meeting.  We will then make changes to the form during the meeting.   CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FORM.
  • We will track your offseason training each month using the attached forms.  Click here to download the training logs. You will turn in the forms to your coach at the end of each month, beginning at end of October. 
ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO FILL OUT THE GOALS & TRAINING PLAN FORM AND EMAIL A COPY TO YOUR COACH BY OCTOBER 1.

Finally, please hold the following dates for fitness testing at ASP:  

Sunday November 11th (for 16u and 17u)

Sunday November 18th (for 14u and 15u)  

We will test you in seven areas:
OF Velocity
Bat Speed
Speed - 40 yard dash
Quickness - pro agility drill
Power - med ball toss
Upper Body Strength - bench press
Lower Body Strength - Squat

Testing will be repeated in late February.

THIS TESTING IS A REQUIREMENT OF THE PROGRAM.  IF YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE TESTING, PLEASE CONTACT MARK GALLION OR MATT WHITESIDE.
