A Transformation Mentoring Process |
 |
Oftentimes, coaching and mentoring relationships do not get established because there is no standardized process which can guide the coach or mentor and client along the journey. Absent of a process, the coach or mentor and clients are left up to their own, ad hoc approach, with varying degrees of success and failure. In our roles as Transformational Mentors, we use a few different processes depending on the needs and desired outcomes of the client. Our core process, called Master Plan, focuses on establishing a "master plan" for someone's life, then coaching them to achieve that plan. Read More

Greetings!
TURNING YOUR POTENTIAL INTO REALITY...
WOW, I get excited every time I read that phrase. It is what Geri and I are all about. We have fully committed to our roles as Transformation Mentors, a form of life coaching, so that we can help others do just that - be unleashed so they can walk in their "sweet spots"! Ever think about your potential? What is the largest endeavor you could possibly do with your unique mix of strengths, life experiences and expertise? Realistically, how big is your capacity? What prevents you from unleashing that potential into reality? Is it a lack of awareness - you don't know your potential? Is it a lack of resources - you are paralyzed from moving forward? Or, do you resist being accountable? Consider turning it around in 2010. Consider leaving mediocrity. Consider fully committing. Consider discovering the path for you - whatever the cost!
I developed this newsletter because I'm passionate about helping organizations and individuals a.) Understand their strengths b.) Have a vision and plan that maximizes their potential and c.) Align their resources in such a way they actually walk in their vision. I hope you find this to be a helpful resource for your journey! |

Iron Sharpens Iron
In their book, Connecting: the Mentoring Relationships You Need in Your Life, Stanley and Clinton's uncovered the following, "Research on mid-career, contemporary leaders led them to this conclusion - other individuals helped most of these men and women in timely situations along the way. Their relationship to another person significantly enhanced their development. Most case studies listed three to ten significant people who helped shape their lives." Stanley and Clinton define mentoring as "a relational process in which a mentor, who knows or has experienced something, transfers that something (resources of wisdom, information, experience, confidence, insight, relationships, status, etc.) to a mentoree, at an appropriate time and manner, so that it facilitates development or empowerment." Over the years, I have felt, and have heard many others make the same claim, that I wish I had access to a great mentor. Since my father passed away when I was in my 20's, I've often felt I was carrying my machete in the jungle by myself. Let's face it; those of us in leadership roles are thirsty for a mentor. Where Life Coaching Fits
Invariably, when someone asks Geri and me what we do for a living and "life coaching" comes out, we often get a response of, "What's that?." Even though the growth of life coaching has been huge - there are about 250,000 coaches today, many people are still not familiar with what a life coach is and why they may need one. Let me preface this by saying what a life coach IS NOT. A life coach IS NOT a professional counselor or therapist, not a consultant, not a spiritual director and not a career advisor. A life coach is someone who helps people set a course for their future and attains the goals necessary to get there. They are a collaborator, facilitator and encourager. Let's take a look at a comparison of various disciplines that often get confused with life coaching.
