| Vision: Field of View |
 |
While I'm a strong advocate of dreaming big dreams, I do believe in adding a sense of reality to those dreams. When I was a kid, I dreamt about being a professional football player. And as life played on, more and more I realized that was not going to happen. It's good for us to dream but it's more effective if we can dream within our "field of view". Read More

10% Vision, 90% Alignment |
Greetings!
"WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH." God
Oftentimes, terminology makes it very confusing to understand real meaning. We hear words like purpose, mission, vision, destiny, calling, etc. and they all start to blend together in our minds. For this newsletter, let me put a stake in the ground on a few of these:
Purpose is the reason you exist. Who are you uniquely equipped to help?
Vision is the working model of your mission. This is the life you create to carry out your mission. What would life look like 3 years from now if you were really doing your mission?
In working with individuals and organizations, it is very clear those who have a mission and vision and those who do not. Without leadership tools in place, the organization experiences chaos and people burn-out. With them, everyone marches together and is on the same page. This is true in your life, your marriage, your church, your community and your workplace. We are made to have a mission and a vision. I developed this newsletter because I'm passionate about helping organizations and individuals a.) Understand their strengths b.) Have a vision and plan that maximizes their potential and c.) Align their resources in such a way they actually walk in their vision. I hope you find this to be a helpful resource for your journey! |

Vision: Size
How big is your vision? Of course, this term is relative to each one of us. Yet, we each have small, medium, large and gigantic vision potential. Generally speaking, we tend to land on a vision that is relatively small as we strive to protect against too much change; however, often with the help of outside experts, we can stretch that vision to encompass a larger sphere of influence. In my consulting and coaching experiences, I'm often asked what one factor keeps us from breakthrough thinking ( Read about Breakthrough Thinking), from being able to start with a clean piece of paper and draft the largest vision possible. And, from my experience, that factor is this: our roadblocks! As Tom Paterson once said, "we are our own jailors!" Our fears and motives, misperceptions, unhealed wounds and losses, agreements and methods of self-sabotage all keep us from a.) Having a vision and b.) Striving for the largest vision possible. Baggage that we've developed over the years to help us cope with pain and fears, while serving us well in one regard, hinders our forward movement. Read More |

Vision: Best Fit
"Fit" is a very powerful term. When we experience a good fit, meaning we are in a situation that is consistent with our strengths, we experience a sense of satisfaction. When the opposite occurs, when we are outside our areas of strength, we become uncomfortable and demotivated. Granted, growth occurs when we stretch beyond what we think we can do. So, we can't just limit ourselves to what feels good; however, there's a difference between developing our strengths and being totally out of position. I can go to the gym and lift weights but that doesn't mean I can play in next Sunday's game against the Packers! "Fit" is a common reference when think about our jobs. If we are terrible at administration, and we have an administrative job, we fully understand what fit - or misfit - means! Fit also applies to the other domains in our life: our relationships, our church, our community, our hobbies, etc. For the purposes of this article, let's take a closer look at fit as it pertains to your vision.
