Thinking Wavelength Tool
Each of us naturally thinks in a certain way-the way in which we order our world, tolerate change, and juggle variables.  No one way of thinking is right and another wrong.  But it is helpful to know how we are inclined to think (as well as how others are inclined to think).  The way that we think may or may not be similar to our spouse, supervisor, children, or employees as we engage in tasks, conversations, decision-making, or problem-solving.  Your thinking wavelength is usually relates to the type of work at which you are going to be most successful!

Greetings!

"THE SHAKY ECONOMY DICTATES THE NEED FOR ORGANIZATIONAL AND PERSONAL PLANNING"

The current economic recession has affected many organizations and individuals like no other time in history.  Many are forced to rethink their direction: where they invest time and money, the trajectory of their current path, their values and future.  In some cases, people have found themselves out of position and are paying a significant cost.  For others, in realizing that they don't want their future to replicate their past, they are mobilizing to plan a way forward.

I developed this newsletter because I'm passionate about helping organizations and individuals a.) Understand their strenghts b.) Have a vision and plan that maximizes their potential and c.) Align their resources in such a way that they actually walk in their vision.

I hope you find this to be a helpful resource for your journey!
Gaining Perspective
Mountain-Top View
Why do so many of our strategies and plans fall short of our expectations, fall short of capturing our full potential?  What does it take to achieve breakthrough thinking?  How can we get to the "next level"?

Often, organizations and individuals rush into planning the future without doing the necessary preparations.  It's unrealistic to think that we can briefly escape from our hectic worlds to sit down and somehow quickly author a profound future vision.  It's just not that easy or that quick.  Often, we end up simply solving smaller tactical issues, satisfying a loud influential voice, or repackaging more of the same.

Resourcing The Vision
There are so many great planning documents sitting on shelves!  Why don't most of them get implemented?  Why do we begin to lose momentum moments after leaving the planning session where we were energized, were we were united by a common vision?

ResourcesPlans don't get implemented because we need resources to make the plans come alive.  And we don't allocate the necessary resources to really do what we all said we wanted to do.  Somehow we expect the plans to happen without really changing anything to make them happen.  We're often not ready for change.

At an organizational level, management often plays both sides.  Urging staff to come up with a plan to achieve new levels of performance while never freeing up or adding the necessary resources to do the plan.  More work gets lumped on the existing staff resulting in lower morale and lack of trust.

At a personal level, we read books, get counseling and wish for change while never really changing behaviors consistent with moving towards the desired goals.  Change often takes time, money, stopping some things and starting others.  In reality, unless there is a burning urgency, we often don't really want to change.
