DEAR NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS:

As you've probably noticed, CNF has implemented a new method for sending our e-newsletter. After spending the better part of a year experimenting with different systems, we believe we've finally found a (glitch-free) winner.

No more broken links, no more subscription difficulties; technical problems are (we hope) a thing of the past.

The best part? All the new bells and whistles we can now integrate into our e-correspondence. Some of the highlights include:

* A "Forward email" function
* A "SafeUnsubscribe" option
* Anchored links and Quick links
* A full-color palate

We want to know what you think. Send your thoughts on the new look to cnflist@creativenonfiction.org.

Well, it appears interest is petering out... which is a shame because Maria Hummel's "Blood and Treasure"--possibly the most challenging edit in our online experiment, Issue 36: "First Lede, Real Lead"--has received only two responses. Since we spent a lot of time shaping and editing this essay (and Maria, no doubt, spent countless hours writing it), we encourage all of you to share your thoughts: did our edits strengthen or weaken the piece? To see this essay in its submitted form vs. edited form, click here.

For those of you who have yet to pick up a copy of Issue 36... you're missing out on one of our best issues yet! But don't take our word for it: read this review on NewPages.com.

Additionally, our forthcoming Best Creative Nonfiction, Vol. 3, recently received a glowing review from Publishers Weekly. Good news for all you subscribers out there--Best CNF 3 will be arriving in just a few short months.

Not a subscriber? There's never been a better time to become one. Subscribe today and you'll receive Issue 36 now and Best CNF 3 later this summer.

Finally, we'd like to take a moment to welcome our two new editorial assistants, Ryan Conatti and Jenelle Pifer. We just know they're going to be a great addition to the CNF office.

A Note to Our Journal Subscribers
Best 3
Some months back, in a decision to provide our subscribers with more personalized service, CNF left our fulfillment company and brought circulation management inhouse.

To fine tune this system, we need to hear from our subscribers.

If you have experienced any subscription problems or simply need to update a mailing address, we want to know.
Are you an overseas subscriber? Send us your email so we can electronically send your renewal letters and other communication.

Please send any subscription questions, comments, or concerns to information@creativenonfiction.org, or call 412.688.0304.

The Great Twitter Experiment

And now, for a little social experiment...

[Note: if you do not Twitter, do not care about the Twitter craze, or have never heard of Twitter, please disregard the following.]

As the genre matures and evolves, and technology and the popularity of social networking expands, we at CNF have become increasingly interested in different forms of creative nonfiction.

We're wondering if it's possible to tell true stories, well, in 130 characters or less. Think you could write one hundred CNF-worthy tweets a day? Go for it. We dare you. Submitting is easy. Simply tag your 130-character creative nonfiction tweet with the trending topic #cnftweet, and then hit "Update." That's it.

We'll scour Twitter on a daily basis, re-tweeting the best of the day. And who knows? If this goes well, you may even find your tweet in an upcoming issue of Creative Nonfiction.

CNF No-Residency Mentoring Program

Flexible schedule. One-on-one interaction. Customized courses.

Here at Creative Nonfiction, we understand that not everyone wants or needs a degree to become a better writer. We also understand that in economic times such as these, there aren't a lot of people with the funds to invest in a two to three year MFA program or even a summer conference.

CNF's mentoring programs offer writers of all levels one-on-one access to accomplished mentors (who, by the way, aren't just great writers, but experienced teachers and editors, too).

So this year, save the money you'd be spending on travel, lodging, and tuition and get the personalized attentino you want and deserve.

All of our courses are tailored to meet your specific needs, whther you're looking for help kick-starting a writing project or putting the final touches on a manuscript. Our mentors can help you set realistic goals, illuminate your skills, address your weaknesses, and help build your confidence as a writer. We can help with book proposals, as well.

Work with the experts, and make an investment in your writing career now!
