Scholarships for New Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) PediaLink Course Now Available! |
Prenatal alcohol exposure is the leading preventable cause of intellectual and developmental disabilities in the western world. The effects of FASD can be lifelong but the best outcomes are seen when it is recognized early and treatment provided accordingly. A new AAP Pedialink course Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: Identification and Management emphasizes the importance of the primary care provider in suspecting and/or diagnosing FASD, making proper referrals, and facilitating appropriate health care, education and community services. Scholarships for this course are available on a first come first serve basis.

Survey - Children with Autism |
Sexual Development and Behavior in Children with Autism: The Pediatrician's Perspective
Drs. Paul Carbone, Nancy Murphy, and Michael Himle of The University of Utah are conducting an online survey of pediatricians regarding the sexual development and behavior of children with autism. You are invited to participate in this survey if you currently provide care for any families managing autism. Participation in the survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
There is currently very little research on how families manage the sexual development of children/adolescents with autism. As a pediatrician on the front line, your perspective is invaluable to our understanding of this topic. Your responses will help us understand how pediatricians address and integrate these issues into medical care. Your participation in this study is sincerely appreciated. As a token of our appreciation, we will be happy to provide you with information and resources for pediatricians and parents regarding sexual development and autism upon completion of the study.
