New Name, Same Great Information!

We are proud to say that many of you have been part of this listserv for several years. With the switch to a new format, we want to take this opportunity to re-introduce you to who we are and define the purpose of this listserv.

The new name - previously "Smart Growth" now "Community Development"- simply reflects our attempt over the last two years to broaden the resources we provide you to better represent the diversity of issues and topic areas you are working with. We are still dedicated to the principles of smart growth - which encourage community and economic development efforts that are thoughtfully planned so as to enhance the resiliency and vibrancy of communities long term.

Through the listserv, we hope to assist you in your efforts to learn about and sift through the myriad conferences, grant opportunities and programs, and bring you the most relevant information each month.  We'll share events, job opportunities, RFPs, grants, key publications, and more.  This monthly distribution will cover topics such as land use, economic development, affordable housing, transportation, energy efficiency, sustainability, and public health as it relates to community development and planning.  Check out our  NEW WEBSITE and find out more about our Community Development Office team and resources that are available to Colorado communities at http://dola.colorado.gov/cdo

Our Main Street team offers proven program assistance to help communities revitalize their downtown districts and promote economic development within the context of historic preservation. Our Main Street staff are happy to provide training and information about the program, and allow your communities an opportunity to get together to plan strategically for your revitalization efforts.

Our team will come to your jurisdiction to offer training to planning commissioners and elected officials. There is no charge to the local government for this training.

Benefits:
  • We come to you.
  • No impact on your training budget.
  • Provides an opportunity for appointed and elected officials to focus on long-range planning and to connect with each other and with officials from your neighboring communities.
