CASCADE CANYON SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS BUILD
"THEATER FOR TOLERANCE" TO DEBUT AT KIDZSTOCK MUSIC FESTIVAL

Fairfax, Ca - June 1, 2010 Cascade Canyon School volunteers along with a significant donation of reused materials from Fairfax Lumber and Hardware through their new Marin County program, Fairfax Green®, have made a reality of the long-time dream of the outdoor campus amphitheater, "Theater for Tolerance." The Theater for Tolerance makes its debut at KIDZSTOCK, June 19th, 11 am - 7 pm as part of "The Village" area of activities. Fairfax Green is a collaborative relationship between the AWAY station and Fairfax Lumber to provide Marin County's only marketplace of reuse. The Fairfax Lumber location is the drop-off and purchase site of building supplies for reuse and recycle launched in May 2010.

School volunteers are constructing the Theater for Tolerance outdoor amphitheater on the back portion of the canyon, nestled among oaks trees and rolling foothills of Cascade Canyon School. The new amphitheater has been the long-term vision of Peggy Tunder, Cascade Canyon School's beloved Kindergarten and theater teacher, co-founder and former co-director. Peggy's dream was to create a shared performance space for the school and surrounding community, where the values of harmony, unity, acceptance and sustainability can be promoted.

This intimate stage area in the Theater for Tolerance seats over eighty and will be used for the children's open mic portion of KIDZSTOCK. The open mic amphitheater is one of the many activities in "The Village". "The Village" is the canyon area featuring booths of games and activities including carnival games for all ages, henna tattoos face painting, teen and kid chill-out zones, instrument making, cookie decorating and an obstacle course.

KIDZSTOCK Music Festival featuring special guest Joan Baez is the first outdoor music festival and concert to celebrate local, young musicians, ages 6 - 18. Doors open at 10 am. Main performances and special guest performance by Joan Baez will be held on the large sound stage constructed for the event by Music Plus Events, located on the school's field at 2626 Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

"The Theater for Tolerance reflects what I feel are among the most important values we can bestow upon children: that the arts play a vital role in creating community; that as a community, we have a responsibility to develop greater capacity for understanding, acceptance and care of each other and the earth; and that the arts themselves, can be a vehicle for positive change. I see KIDZSTOCK as a beautiful celebration of youth, music, and community, and the perfect inaugural event for the Theater of Tolerance," said Rebecca Hausammann, Cascade Canyon School Director.
