In a continuing series of newsletters for Realtors only, here is a new concept for you to think about that some of you will love. I'd like to know your opinions, so please drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Showcasing Art in an Open House

The whole concept of an Open House is one that some Realtors have their doubts about.  With the internet being the place where prospective buyers start their search for a new home, does an Open House really work?  One Realtor in Tallahassee, Florida, decided to be creative with her Open House.  She showcased local art in order to get people into the house.  Would this work or would it just bring in a lot of people who are not really interested in buying?

There are a number of ways to look at this. Yes, you would have many people who are not in the market for a home show up to see the art. Is that really a problem? They will definitely talk about going to see art in a home as it is not something that is done often. Who knows who they will talk to. These people may know someone who is a prospective buyer and they will let them know of the great house in the great neighborhood that they went to see.

With so many empty homes on the market now, showcasing art could be a great way to bring attention to dramatic walls or archways that would normally be highlighted by the owner's furniture. Sure you may have to touch up some paint after it is all over with, but it could be a small price to pay if you get a buyer for an empty house that has been sitting on the market for a while.

Think of the social media implications this type of Open House will have. Think of the publicity the Realtor will get. Think of the community awareness this type of event will promote. With such a creative idea, this could be win-win for everyone.

This newsletter was short and sweet but with a very creative message that I hope you will think about.  You never know what will work until you try.

Sincerely,

Pam Hower
