From the Desk of the Chamber President:
A Good Time Was Had by All
It's very possible you were one of the more than 3,000 people who attended Lakeside's Spirit of Christmas festivities on December 3. To use an old saying, "a good time was had by all," would be an understatement. Special thanks go to Venus Rodvold, Kathy Kassel, Ralph Goodrich and others on the Spirit of Christmas committee.
Of course, the holiday revelry continues for Chamber members. The annual Christmas party will be Friday, December 16 at the Barona Club House. The event will double as the December Chamber mixer and will feature music, games and plenty of holiday socializing. Bring your favorite beverage and a dish to share and be prepared to greet old acquaintances and make new friends.
Did you know that businesses that provide goods or services to the public are called "public accommodations" in the Americans with Disabilities Act? The ADA establishes requirements for nearly all types of businesses that serve the public regardless of the size of the business or the age of their facilities. The Chamber is about to kick off what we hope will become a quarterly event. On Friday, February 3 we'll gather together with the Santee Chamber and Senator Joel Anderson's office for breakfast at Café 67. These gatherings will feature speakers that will be of interest and value to those of you in the business community. This one will feature a guest speaker from the Civil Justice Association of California with an update on the Americans with Disabilities Act and what you need to know about your potential liability and compliance.
Please accept best wishes for happy holidays from your chamber board and staff. 2011 has been a great year in Lakeside. Let's make 2012 the best yet. The first board meeting of the New Year will be on Monday, January 9.

The Spirit of Christmas is Alive and Well in Lakeside
Saturday, December 3rd, Maine Avenue was filled with the sights and sounds of Christmas. The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce held the 13th Annual Spirit of Christmas. This event helped to officially kick-off the Christmas Season to over 3,000 quests. Children and adults alike enjoyed the train ride up and down Maine Avenue. Christmas movies were playing non-stop on a full size outdoor movie screen. If you were hungry and felt like a snack or a meal it could be found at one of the vendors: S'mores from the Boy Scouts, pulled pork sandwiches from Eastbound, hot cocoa and coffee from cups and cones.

We wish to extend our deepest thanks to our sponsors, participants and volunteers. Without you this event would not have been the tremendous success that is was.
THANK YOU!

Cafe 67 Mixer/Toy Drive
Once again another great Lakeside Chamber mixer at Cafe 67 with good food, cheer and lots of toys for our local Lakeside toy drive put on by Harvest Christian Fellowship. Last year approximately 630 kids benefited from the toy drive and I say that is something Lakeside should be proud of, I know Santa is. Don't worry if you didn't have time to attend there is still time to donate your new unwrapped toy to Cafe 67 up until December 16th. Thank you Lakeside for being such a generous community and I am very proud to say that I am part of. And don't worry because I'm already planning next years mixer and toy drive so do me a favor and get it on your calender! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
