Community is an inside job
Fall is upon us and the Community Expo is behind us but the events sponsored by your Chamber of Commerce just keep coming. I Love a Clean Lakeside is just around the corner. If you need to get rid of any items, perhaps that couch on the porch, or dispose of small electrical items or electronics, shred those receipts from 10 years ago, (that would be me) this Chamber event is for you. The current working date is November 5th. More information will follow. Stay tuned.
Supervisor Dianne Jacob held a town hall meeting at Mario's in Lakeside, last Friday September 30th. While she touched on many items during this 2 hour exchange I would like to mention two in particular. Supervisor Jacob requested help from Lakeside residents and businesses to hold Cal Trans and the Dept. of Public Works responsible for ongoing clean up and maintenance. If you see weeds along the roadside, or areas needing repair please log on to the webs sites below and report your finding. Response time is said to be within 72 hours. Let her office know if that is not the case.

On another note, if you see something that needs to be reported to the Sherriff's office, Report it! If we don't call, the sheriff assumes there are no problems. Make sure the voice of Lakeside is heard.
The Spirit of Christmas is scheduled for Dec 3. We are planning some changes that we think you will enjoy; however we need some Christmas spirit here! Volunteers are required to run any event and the Spirit of Christmas is no exception. We are facing the very real possibility that we will need to cancel this event because we are in need of help. Do you belong to an organization that looks for ways to help your community? Here is an opportunity. We not only need help on the day of the event, but also in the days preceding and afterward as well. Help decorate the Christmas tree or Maine Avenue. Help the traffic folks with signs and roadblocks. Help clean up after the event. Call the Chamber and submit your name or group name. I am back to my recurrent theme. Participate. Make new contacts. As an individual, organization or business, the more you participant the more you will gain.
The Chamber joins with all of Lakeside in mourning the passing of Optimist President Mike Ames, who knew what Community Spirit was all about.
