Greetings!

If you are a new reader you have not been a part of the "Kricket buys a house" saga. I bet you regular readers thought I finally gave up.

Last July I wrote about our difficulties with choosing between lifestyle and living style. We wanted both, and our budget didn't accommodate "having it all".

Last November we thought we found a workable balance. But, after having the deal fall apart due to appraisal issues we put our search on the shelf. I spent the spring and summer keeping my eyes open but not exactly jumping on potential opportunities.

We recently had a "light bulb moment" and have subsequently bought a house. A new listing came on the market in the exact area we would love to live. We would have that "lifestyle" we want; walk to coffee, run to the lakes, etc. The house was darling. It was updated, sharp and priced well even though it was at the top of our budget. We couldn't pull the trigger. The bottom line was it wasn't practical enough for our "living style". We finally had our answer; we needed to pick the house and not the location.

Ironically a new listing came on the market the next day in Minnetonka; not where we had been looking. This house has darn near everything we want in a house. It is a house we can entertain in, have big family dinners and not grow out of. But, we almost didn't recognize it because it also has many things that we were not looking for. It has a pool, sits on a hill, is very private and has a wooded lot. None of those items were on our check list. But, the house sucked us in and now we are excited about all those feature too.

Once again we have to get through the appraisal process. But, I think this is going to officially close the end of next month.

PS - I did have Mike step in and help with the deal. It's hard to wear the agent hat and the buyer hat at the same time!

Sincerely,

This two story with a walk-out lower level is a prize at this price point.  The cul-de-sac location is a quiet setting and the back yard is a must see.  It is expansive, lush and has plenty of mature trees for privacy.  The interior has an open floor plan, main level family room with a fire place, and has three bedrooms and a loft on the second floor.  This home is sharp and well cared for.

People's Organic Coffee and Wine Café:

French Meadow Bakery & Café founder Lynn Gordon opened her new organic café concept in the Galleria less than a year ago. This is casual dining that serves natural foods, partnered with organic wines, local beers and fair trade coffee. It is all served cafeteria style in a sleek and modern restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. One note; weekend evenings they have table service but it's uneven at best.

Their menu takes you from breakfast to dinner with sweet and savory snacks to enjoy in between the three square meals. They offer classic egg and bacon breakfasts and more original egg strata's. There isn't a sandwich or a wrap that I wouldn't love to try. The salads range from a Schultz Farm chicken ceasar to an antioxidant salad with romaine, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries and gorgonzola. I recently tried something from their farm to table section of the menu. It was a delicious bison burger with Fischer Farm bacon, roasted tomatoes, aioli and romaine served on a wonderful sprouted wheat bun. I loved this burger!

Whether you regularly seek out organic and locally raised food or not, this is a lovely place to enjoy a very tasty meal. It is also a hidden gem for the beer geeks who love artisanal and crafts beer. They provide an expansive selection of both beer and wine. There is only one national beer on the menu; a can of Bud Light. That made me chuckle.

Next time you are in the Galleria or Edina, I recommend giving Peoples Organic Coffee and Wine Cafe a try.
