The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy
By Nikki Loftin
Review by Sophia O. age 12
This intriguing book is about Lorelei, a girl whose mother has died. A few years later, her school burns down mysteriously. The new school, Splendid Academy, quickly appears and is the kind of school any child would want. Rock-climbing walls, gourmet meals, and optional homework are only some of the things that Splendid has to offer. But Lorelei and her new friend Andrew discover something about Splendid Academy that chills their souls.
I like this book because it mixed magic with mystery, past with present. As the story runs along, it includes many different factors and complications that I very much enjoyed. I would recommend this book to anyone ages 8-12 who enjoyed the Percy Jackson series.
