The Solitary House
by Lynn Shepherd
Lynn Shepherd's acclaimed first novel of historical suspense, Murder at Mansfield Park, brilliantly reimagined the time of Jane Austen. He enlists the help of his great uncle, a legendary investigative mind, to--discreetly--find and stop whoever is responsible for sending threatening letters to Cremorne. But what starts as a simple, open-and-shut case escalates into something bigger and darker. An enthralling tale plumbing the mysteries of the human mind. Recommended for ages 18+.

The Secret Chicken Society
By Judy Cox and Amanda Haley Review by Lorenzo, age 9
At Daniel's school they were going to hatch chicks. Daniel's teacher said that if they brought $2 and a signed note from their parents they could have one chick. Daniel had to convince his mom to get a chick. But the next day there were more kids than chicks so the teacher was going to pick a person's name out of a box. Daniel hoped he would get picked. I think this is a good book for people who like animal and chicken stories. I like this book because it was a book with chickens. Read other reviews submitted by our Advanced Readers Club here.
