Darth Paper Strikes Back: An Origami Yoda Book

by Tom Angleberger

darth paper

Having been suspended from McQuarrie Middle School for the Origami Yoda incident, Dwight's friends' Tommy and Kellen decide to come up with a new case file to try to show how beneficial Origami Yoda was to McQuarrie. It's going to be tough, especially since there is a new puppet in town and Harvey created him. The battle will be Darth Paper vs. Origami Yoda and will decide if Dwight's suspension will be permanently extended. With as much hilarious ingenuity as the original Origami Yoda, this is a book that will appeal to young readers navigating the confusing world of middle school even while making them laugh. Wildwood

by Colin Meloy

 Wildwood

When Prue's baby brother is carried off by crows to the Impenetrable Wilderness, she knows she has to save him. Even if that means traveling to this wilderness from which no one has ever returned. Tagging along is her classmate Curtis. Once the pair pass the boundary into Wildwood, as the locals call it, they find a whole other world. In this world, the kingdoms are at war and Prue and Curtis are thrown into the midst of it, before they can even begin to look for Prue's brother. This fantastical tale, in the tradition of epic fairy tales, is full of memorable characters, dry humor, and an intricate plot. But mostly, Wildwood is a terrifically fun read. Ages 9-15 ($17.99)
