Bailey
by Harry Bliss Bailey is so excited to go to school. After picking which collar to wear (red or blue?), he hurries on his way, but there are plenty of distractions (mainly squirrels) and he doesn't want to be late. And what about Bailey's homework? Would you believe he ate it? That is what dogs do, after all. In this hilarious romp, follow Bailey's irrepressible antics as he explores all the things he loves to do at school--from reading and painting to fetching and digging--all the while making tons of friends. The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School
by Laura Murray
When a class leaves for recess, their just-baked Gingerbread Man is left behind. But he's a smart cookie and heads out to find them. He runs, slides, and skips as fast as he can because, of course: "I can catch them! I'm their Gingerbread Man!" After visits to the gym teacher, the nurse, the art teacher, and the principal, the Gingerbread Man finds his class. But after learning all about the school, he'll never be left behind again. This funny and sweet twist on an old classic is perfect for kids heading off to school, whether or not they are new there. Includes a poster with activities. Ages 3-8 ($16.99)

-In Memoriam-
Our friend Richard Harris, husband of Carol, died peacefully at home Friday, August 19, 2011, in the midst of his family and good friends. We remember his joy with children when he helped during many store celebrations and especially when he regaled them as Dumbledore.
He pastored Congregational and United Church of Christ congregations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Southern California, Hawaii, and Mexico. He taught psychology, sociology, marriage & family, philosophy, and religion at several community colleges as well as Chapman University, UCSB, Allan Hancock College, La Verne University.
Richard was very active in the local community, consistently pursuing and communicating a passionate commitment to the work of peace because he had experienced the horrors of war. He was in leadership in the United Nations Association, Heifer Project, AARP, peace groups and many civic projects. He produced and hosted hundreds of interviews on television. From 1994 until the end of his life he was a vital developer of the community at Pilgrim Place.
We give thanks to God for the good life of Richard Harris. The memorial service will be held in October, the date has not yet scheduled. His wife Carol and his children can be contacted at 640 Alden Road #1, Claremont CA 91711.
