Growing With Purpose and Vision

Ensuring a Sustainable Future

Our work in Nyanza province has become a model for change in this region of Kenya.  Through listening to and collaborating with Kendu Bay community leaders, schools and students, our initiatives have motivated educational leaders and changed the lives of local youth.

An increasing desire of local communities to join in our grassroots project has propelled a pivotal development for our organization that will assure our future growth is structured, stable and sustainable.

Introducing NICED

The KSHP Board is delighted to announce that our longtime Kenya partner has transitioned from a community based organization (CBO) into a nationally registered non-governmental organization (NGO).

The new Nyanza Initiative for Community Education and Development (NICED) was officially accredited by the Kenyan government and began operations in August.  Its new Board of Directors brings a wealth of professional, business and educational expertise matched only by their passion to help Kenya's children.

Planning for Directed Growth

We have consolidated our Nairobi and Kendu Bay offices into one office located in nearby Homa Bay to enhance NICED's daily work and yield substantial savings in time and expense.  We have implemented a business model of organizational structure and instituted new policies and procedures to maintain the highest levels of transparency and financial accountability to our donors.

Our Shared Accomplishments

Through the dedication and hard work of many in Kenya, the United States and beyond, the accomplishments of our small organization stand out.  Students with no resources are graduating from secondary school and entering university on scholarship.  Primary schoolgirls have access to safe latrines and sanitary provisions. Girls and boys in after-school clubs learn the value of respecting and helping each other. Hand washing stations help stem the spread of disease. Parents and guardians come together through project events to learn how to encourage and empower their children. And students give back through community service.

On behalf of all the Board members of KSHP and NICED, we thank you for your confidence in our stewardship.  We look forward with excitement to the future!
