Picnic in the Park

Get ready to celebrate with 3,000 of your closest friends and neighbors at the Village of Palmetto Bay's Ninth Annual Celebration Picnic, Saturday, March 5, from 11a.m. to  2 p.m. at Coral Reef Park (address: 7895 SW 152 St.).

Palmetto Bay hosts this signature event each year to celebrate the Village's incorporation in 2002 -- as a way to say "thank you" to residents for their positive energy and support throughout the year. The 2011 picnic offers something for everyone: local entertainment, exciting kiddie activities, fire and police displays, and great food -- including everyone's favorite, roasted corn on-the-cob, cooked and served by members of the Village Council and staff.

Be "green" and ride your bike to the picnic this year. If you must drive, parking is available on the park's two south parking lots (off SW 152 St. near Coral Reef Elementary School) and at St. Richard's Holy Rosary Church at the southeast corner of SW 152 St. and 77 Ave.). The park's east parking lot off 77 Ave. is reserved for police, fire, and picnic vendors.

Visit our "Events" page on Facebook and click "I'm Attending" to help spread the word.

Historic Bus Tour

FlipseFor the third year, the Village is offering its successful Historic Palmetto Bay Bus Tour during the picnic, with up to two separate Ibus trips during the event. The one-hour tour includes a brief local history and curb-side stops at several homes and sites of historic significance. Reservations will be taken starting at 11 a.m. at the Historic Preservation tent.

Mayor's Cup Game

baseballOne of the highlights of the Celebration Picnic each year is the Annual Mayor's Cup Baseball Game between Miami Palmetto Senior High and Coral Reef Senior High. This event starts at 1 p.m., on the ball field west of the main picnic grounds, near the Parkview Café. Stop by to purchase a burger and fries -- and watch Mayor Stanczyk throw the first pitch!
