Village of Palmetto Bay

February 10, 2011

Welcome

Palmetto Bay e-Currents

From the Desk of the Village Manager

For the shortest month of the year, we've got a lot of celebrating to do in February, as we mark the official grand opening of two significant Village projects: Thalatta Estate, a picturesque waterfront park that we've renovated as a premier event facility; and our new Platinum LEED-Certified Municipal Center. The public is invited to join us for both big events. Please see details below. February is also the month during which we proceed with new tree planning consistent with our Tree City, USA designation and the Village's Tree Master Plan. We also have Public Works staff out replacing and repairing sidewalks, and Parks workers out manicuring our greatest assets -- our public green spaces, playing fields, and exercise paths. February is also Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history.

We anticipate an exciting month and we hope you will join us in celebrating all our community achievements, big and small.

Thalatta Estate Grand Opening, Feb. 13

Thalatta

The long-awaited Grand Opening Celebration of the historic Thalatta Estate is upon us. Please join us Sunday, Feb. 13, to see first hand the breathtaking revitalization of the facility. From the expansive  landscaping and picturesque ocean views, to the two-story estate and re-purposed carriage house, Thalatta Estate is positioned to become the area's premier site for small- to mid-sized banquets, private functions, weddings, and meetings. This event is open to the public, with no RSVP required. Please join us to enjoy a great piece of tradition restored in our community. To learn more about the history of Thalatta visit us on Facebook and our Village website.  And, don't forget to take a look at your formal invitation.
