Village Posts Proposed FY 2010-11 Budget Online for Public Viewing The emphasis of the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year is to outline Village goals of continuing to build community and providing high-quality programming and municipal services. Over the past year Palmetto Bay has achieved great success through initiatives such as traffic calming and maintaining our prestigious designation as "Tree City USA." Soon we will see our biggest project come to fruition, the construction of the Platinum LEED-Certified new Village Hall. The Council has two public hearing meetings slated for September in order to finalize the 2010-11 budget. |
Old Cutler Road Reopens; SFWMD Project Continues Although Old Cutler Road reopened last week to all traffic, commuters should still proceed with a bit of caution as area construction on the Deering Estate Flow-way Project continues. Most green-concious residents exhibited great patience over the duration of during this project, headed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), as they acknowldge it moves us toward an even greener community. Reminder: Rules on Candidate Signs
The next election in the Village is Nov. 2, for the Mayor's seat, and Councilmembers Districts 1 and 3. Since yard signs are often the most visible sign of an individual's intention to run for office, many of the candidates have been busy getting their names out. Village Clerk Meighan Alexander, Palmetto Bay's Supervisor of Elections has compiled information concerning the rules that govern politicalsignage. Read more -- and remember to vote.
