Seasons Greetings from Mayor Flinn & the Palmetto Bay Village Council
"Families celebrate the holiday season in many different ways, but one of the great things that we all have in common in Palmetto Bay is the overwhelming sense of community and responsibility to family that we share..." Please view a special holiday message in its entirety from Palmetto Bay Mayor Eugene P. Flinn, Vice Mayor Brian W. Pariser, and Village Councilmembers Edward Feller, MD (District 1), Howard J. Tendrich (District 2), and Shelley Stanczyk (District 3).
Village Seal'Smart, Safe, Responsible' Holiday
The holiday season brings out the best in all of us... well, most of us. Some people are already taking the spirit of the season to new heights with late-night parties, loud music, and at least one large gathering at an unoccupied home. Be aware, sometimes party-goers step outside the norms of "goodwill toward man." If you happen to witness suspicious activity, loitering, or other inappropriate activities in your neighborhood, please don't hesitate to call the police.
LadyGiftPut 'Safety' on your Shopping List
While you are out last-minute shopping (again!), don't forget to put personal safety on your list. Here's one way to ensure a safe and pleasant holiday: before heading to the malls, review our Holiday Shopping Safety Guide, provided in conjunction with the Village Policing Unit. One important tip to remember: "Don't put up a fight if you are being robbed... material items can be replaced - your life cannot."
AlvinDVD-CoverA Cure for Holiday Cabin Fever
If you've been stuffed in the house for the holidays and need to get out, visit Coral Reef Park Dec. 27 for Movie Night. Pack up your beach blanket and a cooler for the sunset screening of "Alvin & The Chipmunks" on the big screen located on the east side of the Park. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Come early for a good seat -- and meet the folks from Pollo Campero, a new fast-food restaurant chain specializing in chicken that is co-sponsoring the event.
PilotsProgramHoliday Spirit Lands at Baptist
On Dec. 15, Javier Carvajal and Daniel Molina, airline pilots who are residents of Palmetto Bay, spent their off-duty time at Baptist Hospital. Toting toys and tales about what it's like to be a pilot, they lifted the spirits of dozens of children who are hospitalized for the holidays. Learn more about the Pilots For Kids organization. For complete coverage, read the Dec. 23 edition of Palmetto Bay News.

Holiday Gift Drive Continues...
The Village's Holiday Gift and Toy Drive benefiting Kristi House continues. Dozens of donations have already been provided by caring residents and Village employees, but the demand for new, unwrapped toys, gifts, and gift cards remains strong through the end of the year. Kristi House is a children's advocacy center that treats and heals child sexual-abuse victims. Donations should be appropriate for children and teens, ages 7-17. The collection point is Village Hall (weekdays,  9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
