SwearingInCakeVice Mayor, Councilman Sworn In
Newly elected Vice Mayor Brian Pariser (left) and Councilmember Howard Tendrich (District 2) celebrate "sweet" victory as newly elected members of the Palmetto Bay Village Council. They were sworn in before many residents, friends, and family members at the Dec. 1 Village Council meeting. Visit our Photo Gallery for complete coverage of this momentous meeting, also during which local children were honored for various artistic and sports-related achievements.
AlvinMovie Night at Coral Reef Park
Coming to a Park Near You... "Alvin & The Chipmunks" will be on the big screeen, Dec. 27, on the east side of Coral Reef Park. The film will begin after sunset at 6:30 p.m. We hope you plan to attend this fun & furry film event. Feel free to bring your own coolers, lawn chairs, and don't forget your popcorn. Event co-sponsored by Pollo Campero, a family dining restaurant chain specializing in chicken -- soon moving to our area. See you there.
X-masTreeHoliday Shopping Safety Tips
Before heading out to the malls this season, take a moment to review Palmetto Bay's Holiday Shopping Safety Guide, provided by Mayor Eugene Flinn in conjunction with the Palmetto Bay Policing Unit . One important tip: "Don't put up a fight if you are being robbed... material items can be replaced - your life cannot."

HolidayBoyJoin in Village's Holiday Gift Drive
Join the Mayor & Village Council in making the holidays happier for local children by donating to the 2008 Holiday Gift and Toy Drive benefiting Kristi House, a Children's Advocacy Center that treats and heals child sexual-abuse victims. Bring your new unwrapped toys, gifts, and gift cards for children and teens, ages 7-17. A collection point is available at Village Hall weekdays,  9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Public Works Moves to New Location
Public Works and their staff transitioned just this week into their new facility on the southern perimeter of Palmetto Bay Park. The e-mail address remains the same, but they have a new phone number: 305-969-5011.
Traffic in your Village
Expect delays over the next few months along 144 St., as FPL continues to replace existing utility poles with "stronger" concrete poles. Additionally, your Village continues to improve -- enhancements of some areas within the Village may cause temporary traffic delays -- so please be patient! Drive carefully when you travel along 82 Ave. from 139 Terr. to 144 St.; landscaping on 174 St. from 90 Ave. west to US-1; and, 178 Terr. to 174 St. and from 87 Ave. to 94 Ave.
Shop Local at our Open-Air Market
Palmetto Bay's own Open-Air Market  is open for business every Sunday along SW 174 St. & SW 97 Ave. - in the heart of the emerging Commercial Island area. Green-market vendors specialize in fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, trees, orchids, and cut flowers, in addition to organic items. Vendors of antiques and collectibles are also featured.
