TOPS Transportation We provide transportation
services to qualifying seniors for medical appointments. For elderly seniors and those with significant vision or other physical limitations, the service can include a 1-on-1 service feature, whereby the senior is not only transported to the appointment, but has someone stay with them to assist with note taking, paperwork and so forth. The 1-on-1 feature is currently not available for seniors who need an electric wheelchair lift.
Call our TOPS (Transportation Options Program for Seniors) Program Manager for details.

Combined Federal Campaign
Federal employees can support Senior Services North Fulton, CFC #30561, in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC is the largest annual workplace campaign, raising millions of dollars each year for thousands of non-profits who help so many people in need of assistance. The CFC is a wonderful way for federal workers to support older adults and their families who need Meals on Wheels, transportation, or supportive in-home services such as personal care assistance, homemaker services and respite. All CFC contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support. |

Greetings!
We have been working hard since we wrote to you in January. Our annual fundraiser, Art from the Heart for Seniors, was a great success. A beautiful venue, delicious food and drink, enticing auction items and good company resulted in over $65,000 raised to fund the programs and services so needed in our community. You can visit 2012 Gala to view pictures of the evening. Thank you to all our sponsors, guests, volunteers and staff for supporting Senior Services once again this year.
Following right on the heels of our fundraiser was our March for Meals campaign. We take part in this nationwide initiative each year to help raise awareness and promote our Meals on Wheels program. Fundraisers and events took place all month long and resulted in new volunteers, supporters and a lot of fun for everyone involved.
Please consider volunteering with our Meals on Wheels program. As one of our volunteers recently said, "I have tremendously enjoyed it, and believe me when I say I love doing this. Meals on Wheels gives more to ME than I give to them- that is how much I enjoy my volunteer work here. I have formed some meaningful relationships with people on my route. It always makes my day to see them!"
Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 15th through 21st. To all of our wonderful volunteers: please know how much we appreciate all that you do for the older adults in our community.
With much gratitude,
Carrie Bellware, Executive Director

It's All About Independence
Eighty-five year old Gladys Green, a North Fulton County resident, started receiving Meals on Wheels through Senior Services in March of 2004. Gladys, who had a long career in the banking industry, has lived in Fulton County for more than 40 years. She is the mother of three daughters and one son, all of whom were born in Georgia. A true caregiver, Gladys loves nurturing her flowers and finds great delight in the occasional shopping trip.
One of her daughters, Penny Houser, also a Meals on Wheels recipient, moved in with her mom after the untimely death of her own daughter. Penny says, "All of the people associated with Senior Services North Fulton are so kind, sweet and giving."
With both mother and daughter suffering from multiple medical problems, both ladies believe that the meals they receive help them to remain together in their home, stay relatively independent, and gives them the opportunity to 'watch over and take care of each other'. |
March for Meals 2012
As in previous years, Senior Services North Fulton participated in the national March for Meals campaign. The national campaign, held each March, is initiated and sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities. This year marked the 40th Anniversary of the inclusion of Senior Nutrition Programs in the Older Americans Act (OAA), supporting vital nutrition services, such as Meals on Wheels for adults age 60 and older. |

Mayors for Meals
Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker, Mountain Park Mayor Jim Still, Roswell Mayor Jere Wood, joined by Senior Services Board Member Kerri Groen, Alpharetta Mayor David Bell Isle, joined by Senior Services Board Vice Chair William Wideman, and Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood, joined by Senior Services Board Chair Bonnie Sammons, all enjoyed the opportunity to visit with seniors in their community while delivering Meals on Wheels Wednesday, March 21st. The meal recipients are always thrilled to have the Mayor stop by for a visit. Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos' busy schedule kept her from participating this year. Mayor Galambos is, and has always been, an avid supporter of Meals on Wheels and Senior Services North Fulton.

Mayor Wood, Anne Marie Germaine, and Board Member Kerri Groen

Also, the Mayors and Councils in the cities of Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs and Roswell each adopted proclamations naming March 2012 as March for Meals month. |
March for Meals Supporters

- David Mott and VINO 100 hosted two wine tastings, benefitting our Meals on Wheels program. Attendees were treated to wonderful wines, appetizers and entertainment.
- Al Bashierri, owner of Altobeli's Restaurant and Piano Bar in Johns Creek, graciously donated a portion of the proceeds from an evening's sales.
- Sweet Tomatoes Restaurant in Alpharetta hosted a "FunRaiser" and donated a portion of the proceeds from our supporters' sales.
And thank you to everyone who came out in support of what we do and who we serve.

Country Club of the South Charity Guild Grant
Senior Services North Fulton is grateful to the Country Club of the South Charity Guild for their generous grant of $22,000. The Charity Guild's generosity over the past three years has provided much needed support for our programs and services for seniors. We are very proud to be partnering with the Charity Guild to serve our community. Pat Miller, Crabapple Senior Center Manager, attended the Annual Patron Party to accept the donation. On behalf of our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff, and the seniors we serve, thank you. |

WELLS FARGO Supports Meals on Wheels
We wish to say a special thank you to Wells Fargo for supporting Senior Services North Fulton with a grant of $2,500 for our Meals on Wheels program. Georgia ranks 6th in senior hunger in the United States and unfortunately that includes residents of north Fulton County. We currently serve over 3,000 meals a month through our Meals on Wheels program. This funding will ensure that we are able to reach additional seniors. It is an honor to partner with Wells Fargo to serve older adults and their families in our community. |
| National Charity League Partnership

The members of the National Charity League Buckhead, Dunwoody and Roswell/Alpharetta chapters, each made generous donations to Senior Services North Fulton this spring. With these donations we were able to purchase a new computer and printer/copier for our Sandy Springs Neighborhood Center, office supplies and provisions for our Meals on Wheels program. We are ever grateful for the continued support and ongoing partnership with these wonderful NCL members. |
