Our 5 year pledge of $100,000 in support of the Diakonia Center is almost fullfilled. For 2009, the chapter commitment coupon of $350 will be replaced with a final contribution request of $200 per chapter. Thank you to all who worked towards this glorious end.

2009 METROPOLIS OF ATLANTA CLERGY LAITY CONGRESS AND PHILOPTOCHOS ASSEMBLY June 10 - 14, 2009 Clearwater/Tampa Bay, Florida "THE DAY AFTER TODAY- OUR YOUTH" We have an entertaining and uplifting program planned for the entire family. Metropolis Council and Philoptochos Board will meet Thursday morning. Official opening ceremonies and Grand Banquet will be held Thursday evening. Philoptochos luncheon will be on Friday. Friday night we will have a spectacular extravaganza: "An Evening at the Taverna!" with live entertainment and dancing. Saturday night, after the plenary session, will be a free night at the "Sponge Docks",Florida's unique Greek "horio" of Tarpon Springs. Dine on octopus and kalamari, buy the latest Greek CD's, purchase that perfect sponge or conch shell, and enjoy the evening stroll along the docks, all the while feeling like you are in the Greek islands! Sunday, after Divine Liturgy, we will have a farewell luncheon.

| 3rd Annual Philoptochos Retreat

A Retreat for Metropolis of Atlanta Philoptochos Women
Led by Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou, Ph.D.
A Lenten journey is planned to renew our spirits and refocus our hearts on the life-giving path to the Resurrection of our Lord. Set amongst the beauty and sereneity of our Diakonia Center, you will share in joyous fellowship, grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and find a time to slow down and prepare for Pascha. Words cannot express the wonderful time we had at the previous two retreats and we hope you can join us this year!
Cost: $140 per person, includes 2 nights, all meals, materials and instruction. Please see the registration form for detailed information.

Metropolis Board Members Spring Meeting
March 19-20, 2009
This Spring our board meeting will be held in conjunction with the Retreat at the Diakonia Center. Plan to arrive on Wednesday evening after 4:00 pm so we may begin our meetings early on Thursday and finish by Friday afternoon.
Board Members need to submit a registration form for the retreat and add $35 for the aditional night and 6 meals. Total cost for meeting and retreat is $175. Please contact Florence Lytle if you need transportation arrangements to the Diakonia Center. | |
