Jim

Dear Friends,

The Library has some very exciting free self-directed learning opportunities available. I will be giving brief demonstrations of these products at the Library over the next few weeks and answering your questions on how to use them. I hope that you can join me and that my brief explanations will prompt you to try one of them. My favorite benefit of these products (listed below), is that the user controls the pace of the learning.

Please pre-register for my demonstrations which will be held from 7 to 8 p.m on either Thursday, Oct. 4, Wednesday, Oct. 10, or Monday, Oct. 15.  Each class will cover all three products. Call 236-7272, ext. 14, to reserve your spot!

Introducing LyndaKiosk.

Lynda.com is one of the premiere online instructional products available today. Library staff are sometimes available to share what we know about various computer programs but we don't know everything and we're not experts. The instructors on LyndaKiosk are subject experts and the amount and variety of subjects is wide-ranging with new content being added every week! This product features step-by-step video instruction for beginners and more knowledgeable users alike. LyndaKiosk resides on computer station W13 in the Library - no username or password necessary. Stop by and give it a test run. Bring your headphones or buy a pair at the circulation desk.

Live online help withTutor.com

Your Marlboro Library card gives you remote access to live tutors who are available to assist with homework help for children, advanced studies for college students, and career prep for adults. Logon and create an account and schedule a session with a live remote tutor. In addition to tutors, Tutor.com offers an archive of information on a variety of subjects. This product is accessible from your home computer via library card authentication.
