Dear Friends,

I can't remember a time when we've had so many snow closings at the Library. Thank goodness Punxutawny Phil indicates that spring will be arriving sooner than later. Events always arrive sooner than expected, and that includes the fourth annual Teen Alternative Fashion Show, which is only a few weeks away. This may be the last fashion show for a while and there are rumors of special effects, so you don't want to miss this year's display of creative expression by the youth in our community.

We are also planning a bus trip to Albany to advocate for reinstatement of state funding for libraries. Free seats on the bus may still be available. Let me know if you can attend!
Think spring,

 Teen Alternative Fashion Show

All are welcome to our fourth annual Teen Alternative Fashion Show, "Winter's Muse." This year's show is sure to be captivating, as the teen designers will use mostly white non-traditional or recycled materials to create unique fashions, while drawing upon a wintry forest theme for inspiration. For this event, the Library will be transformed into a stylish catwalk arena, complete with runway and music. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served during intermission. Please contact Susan at 236-7272, ext. 16, to RSVP.

New Children's Books for 1000 Book Project
red book bag
The Marlboro Faculty Association will be adding new books to put in our red canvas bookbags.  Problem is, many of the bags are out in circulation and need to be returned. Please look around your house and see if you have one of these red bookbags and return it to the Library for a fresh supply of kids' books!
Daffodil Days

Place your daffodil order with us by Tuesday, Feb. 22. Call 236-7272, ext. 10. Daffodils will be available for pickup at the Library during the week of March 14 (see details above).  We will call you when the daffodils arrive.

February Book Club

With all the weather cancellations, let's plan on discussing both Slammerkin and Gilead at our February 23 meeting.  Copies of Gilead by Marilynne Robinson are available at the front desk.  Walk-ins are always welcome. We'll  post any changes about the next meeting on the website.

Advocacy Day, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Albany

The goal of the New York Library Association's Library Advocacy Day is to show legislators how much people care about libraries by packing the offices at every appointment. We need lots of people to come and show their support. Please join us!
Art Exhibit
Local artist Muriel Mead will be exhibiting oil paintings and watercolors in the Library community room in late February and early March. Please stop by and view her work during open hours.
