Dear Friends,

We are very pleased with the response we have received to the survey we posted in last month's e-mail newsletter. We are extending the deadline to include the month of May for those who didn't have a chance to respond. Please click on the link above and take a few minutes to complete our brief 10 question survey. We'll be using the survey function of the newletter in the future to ask your opinions on upcoming decisions involving services that we offer.

This summer's reading program, Exploring Cultures & Nature, will be one of our most comprehensive; reaching students from grades K through high school. Miss Susan will be offering weekly camps, a Wednesday night bedtime story for preschoolers, and she'll be introducing  a "Reading Buddies" program. Librarian Sue Scott will be running a technology petting zoo and I will be coaching our Battle of the Books team. See below for information about these exciting events.
Happy Spring,

Our popular May children's program, "Stories in the Park" begins soon. If the rains hold off, Miss Susan will meet and read with children in the sunshine of the children's playground section of Cluett-Schantz Park in Milton. The dates to remember are Tuesday May 11, 18 and 25 at 12:30 p.m.
Book Club -  Wednesday, May 26

Join the Library Book Club that meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the library community room. The group will be discussing Paul Auster's novel Man in the Dark -- The Washington Post's 1998 Book-of-the-Year -- on Wednesday evening, May 26. Seventy-two-year-old August Brill is recovering from a car accident at his daughter's house in Vermont. When sleep refuses to come, he lies in bed and tells himself stories, struggling to push back thoughts about things he would prefer to forget. June's selection will be Aravind Adiga's White Tiger.
Silly Rabbit, Visitor Passes are for visitors

In order to capture realistic statistics concerning the growth of our user base (which determines our funding), library staff will be limiting the distribution of "visitor passes" for Internet access to true visitors to the Library. Visitor passes have a 30 minute limit. Residents of the Marlboro School District are entitled to a free library card. There is a $5 charge to replace lost cards.

Battlers test their recall skills against teams from 23 other libraries in the MidHudson Library System and must be prepared to buzz in with correct answers when quizzed. The contest will take place on September 11 in Hudson this year. Interested kids should contact Mr. Cosgrove at 236-7272.
