Week 23 Analysis

Physical Inspection acceptance climbed further in Week 23 to 84% from Week 22's 74%. Eletrical testing yields, however, dropped to 54% on relatively low volumes.

I do not think that it is a coincidence that a majority of the devices that fail electrical testing require advanced testing capabilities, such as high voltage and current devices, and parametric rather than functional testing on less complex devices for which there are similar, but not identical devices available from Tier 2 manufacturers.

The other trend is for more complex digital-based devices to have failures consistent with long-term storage or even previous use, such as open and short pins, damaged protection diodes, and existing programming.

Greetings!

Since 2009, White Horse has been publishing Weekly Quality Reports. These reports contain lists of part numbers with high electrical failure rates that should be considered high risk. Within these reports, you can also spot trends for overall product quality in the market, industry volume trends, and you can drill into the manufacturers and part numbers to identify highest risk component categories and OCMs.

We are now providing you with access to historical reports through the archives available on our website. Note we do not list individual companies. We consider all test and inspection reports to be confidential to the requestor and White Horse is not authorized to disclose and distribute that information.
Notes:

1. Statistics are calculated as a percentage of all lots dispositioned within the given time period.

2. "Accept" is defined as customer acceptance of report device condition.

3. "Pass" is defined as meeting electrical parameters defined by the agreed upon test plan.

We hope you find this report informative and usefull for your organization.

All the best,
