Week 20 Analysis

The five-week ride in quality gains came crashing in Week 20 with testing pass rates falling from 79% in Week 19 to 65%, and acceptance rates following inspection dropped to 68% in Week 20 from 85% in Week 19.

Dragging down the numbers were mulitiple lots of the same part numbers being screened.

Even with the lower yields, volumes surged another 27%, fueled by Week 19's year-high yields that shipped at the beginning of Week 20.

It will be interesting to see if yields in Week 21 recover from Week 20's drop as we move towards the end of the month and the Memorial Day weekend in the United States.

Holiday Notice

Dragon Boats
Dragon Boat Festival

Monday, June 6 - Dragon Boat Festival

Our Shenzhen laboratory and customer service facilities, and our Hong Kong facility will be closed on Monday, June 6, in observation of the Dragon Boat Festival. We will resume standard operations on Tuesday, June 7.

There are many legends about the origin of the dragon boat festival, all of which involve someone, from depressed government officials to ill-fated lovers, jumping into a river. People jumped into boats to race out to save the drowning martyr(s) and threw sacrificial rice dumplings into the river so that the fish wouldn't disturb the body, which have remained as the traditional celebration of the holiday.

It is one of the most exciting weekends in south China where colorful oared boats race in the bays and rivers with large crowds urging them on and pounding drums.

Greetings!

Since 2009, White Horse has been publishing Weekly Quality Reports. These reports contain lists of part numbers with high electrical failure rates that should be considered high risk. Within these reports, you can also spot trends for overall product quality in the market, industry volume trends, and you can drill into the manufacturers and part numbers to identify highest risk component categories and OCMs.

We are now providing you with access to historical reports through the archives available on our website. Note we do not list individual companies. We consider all test and inspection reports to be confidential to the requestor and White Horse is not authorized to disclose and distribute that information.
Notes:

1. Statistics are calculated as a percentage of all lots dispositioned within the given time period.

2. "Accept" is defined as customer acceptance of report device condition.

3. "Pass" is defined as meeting electrical parameters defined by the agreed upon test plan.

We hope you find this report informative and usefull for your organization.

All the best,
