Since 2009, White Horse has been publishing Weekly Quality Reports. These reports contain lists of part numbers with high electrical failure rates that should be considered high risk. Within these reports, you can also spot trends for overall product quality in the market, industry volume trends, and you can drill into the manufacturers and part numbers to identify highest risk component categories and OCMs.

We are now providing you with access to historical reports through the archives available on our website. Note we do not list individual companies. We consider all test and inspection reports to be confidential to the requestor and White Horse is not authorized to disclose and distribute that information.

Week 15 Analysis

Week 16 saw another small leap in physical inspection results, improving from 56% acceptance in Week 15 to 59% acceptance in Week 16. At the same time, electrical testing pass rates dipped another point to 52% from 53%. Interesting to note that volume nearly doubled the highest weekly figure so far for 2011.

What we have seen is a more profound influence of the Japan situation with a significant increase in digital components, accounting for a large percentage of the overall volume both in overall growth and as a percentage of substandard components. Passive and active discretes make up the balance, with minimal volumes of mixed-signal and linear devices. Also signficant to note this is the first week in recent memory without several Infineon devices listed.

In the weeks and months ahead, it will be interesting to see how significant a role that Japan-related shortages have in overall market activity, particularly in open-market transactions.

Yes, it's another holiday in China and Hong Kong. This one is the May Day holiday, which is fortunately only a one-day closure.

In China it is referred to as the May Day holiday, while in Hong Kong it is referred to as the day-after Labour Day. Either which way, it amounts to a formal public holiday.
