ALERT SB 250 Introduced Today by Senator Dean Florez NO on SB250!
|
Senate Bill 260, a redundant bill that would cost taxpayers thousands
of dollars, was introduced this morning by California State Senator
Dean Florez, new chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee/Committee on
Food and Agriculture. SB250, named "The Pet Responsiblity Act," would
mandate sterilization of dogs and cats at 6 months old unless owners
purchase an intact dog or cat license.
Standing along side
Senator Florez during his well-orchestrated announcement were various
Hollywoodites, and well-known supporters of the failed AB1634, Allan
Drusys, DVM (Riverside Co Animal Services), Lisa Carter (Santa Cruz
SPCA and Judie Mancuso, supporter of all mandatory sterilization bills and ordinances introduced.
CaRPOC strongly opposes this bill.
This bill will not work, is not enforceable, will cause more pets to be surrendered to animal control at a time when foreclosures are already overwhelming shelters. Animal control budges in counties across the state are already being cut because of the state's financial crisis. Money from health, safety and education budgets could possibly be affected if this bill should pass.
This bill, along with other bills recently introduced by Assembly Member Pedro Nava, are merely the latest in a wave of similar anti-pet and anti-animal legislation being proposed all across the country by legislators carrying out the agenda of animal rights fanatics. Be assured that this is the recently defeated CA AB 1634 redux.
