So What's Next? For eighteen months, our lives have revolved around the California Legislature and AB1634. Tens of thousands of us wrote, called, visited Assemblymembers and State Senators. Hundreds of us went to Sacramento and talked to whomever would listen and accept our hand-delivered documents and letters. Groups and Associations were founded, pet law lists were
initiated. Internet communication became instantaneous (and overwhelming
at times.) We sat in committee meetings, we testified and we prevailed. The final vote in the CA State Senate of 27 Noes to 5 Ayes doomed the ill-conceived pet forced sterilization bill. Another 10 days of nailbiting, while the bill continued to be presented as a "reconsideration," then finally that last sigh, that last held breath and it was over.
And there will be deserved celebrations and joyous exchanges on the lists and on the cell phones. But then, but then...... WHAT'S NEXT???? What do we do NOW to encourage the public never to allow this type of Draconian animal bill to go forth again? How do we get our message across?
CaRPOC has some ideas and have held most in abeyance for the duration of AB1634. Now it's time to move them forward. The following eNewsletters will highlight different coalition members, different project and just some fun articles.Enjoy and volunteer!

Who are we, anyway?
In each newsletter, we will highlight one of the
great members of our coalition. We are NOT a membership organization, but a coalition of individuals. Many of us belong to other organizations, but join together to help all groups become stronger through our efforts. In the following newsletters, we will introduce ourselves, tell a little about ourselves.
We are updating our webpage and when done, we will link various to various articles and projects. Look forward to some interesting, informative reading! |

What's next in CaRPOC's projects? We have already initiated PETs (Pet Education Teams), with a Speaker's Bureau, a combined organization effort to reach local civic groups with presentations and slides. Moving this from the idea stages to the actual talks has taken weeks of planning. Invitations has gone out to a test areas, and presentation teams are ready to go when invited in their area.
Help is needed in opening the doors to our speaker teams. If you belong to a civic organization, (Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, League of Woman Voters, and so on), encourage them to contact, and PETs will follow up with a great presentation.
Other projects will be discussed in the following newsletters and an entertaining, fun-filled surprise coming within the next few months. Watch for it!
