On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law will host a Peace in the Desert film screening and panel discussion. The film is "Streetball Hafla," a film exploring the ways in which basketball has fostered harmonious relationships between Jews and Arabs in Israel.

Panelists include: Sasha Nizgoda, whose mother was raised Jewish and whose father was raised Muslim; Gilad Berman, a young Israeli Jewish tennis player who grew up in Israel and now attends UNLV; Ricky Sobers, a former professional basketball player; Tom Jackovic, Executive Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation; and Michael Saltman, Co-Founder of the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution.

The event is free and open to the public. More information is available on the law school's website.

Free CLE: Representing Children in Abuse and Neglect Cases

A free CLE presented by the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada offers attorneys an excellent opportunity to learn how to represent children in the abuse and neglect system. Topics will include: the role of a children's attorney, duties to the client, abuse and neglect court processes, permanency planning, common issues facing children in foster care, the difference early intervention can make, preparing clients to age out of the system and much more.

The class will take place on Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at UNLV's William S. Boyd School of Law. All attendees must agree to take on one new abuse/neglect pro bono case through the Pro Bono Project. Download a registration form today.
