Help New Attorneys Transition into Practice
More than 200 men and women are sitting for the bar exam this week; you can assist in their transition from classroom to courtroom and help introduce them to the practical practice of law. The State Bar of Nevada is looking for attorneys with seven or more years' experience to mentor newly admitted bar members. Selected mentors will work in one-on-one relationships with new attorneys who practice in the same or similar areas of law. The state bar will provide program materials, mentor training and opportunities to promote professionalism within the legal community. Mentors are eligible to receive three CLE credits per six-month cycle. The application deadline is March 12. For more information and to apply to serve as a mentor, visit our TiP Program webpage. |

Nevada Legal Services Office Supply Scavenger Hunt
Federal funding for Nevada Legal Services (NLS) was drastically cut this year. The cuts forced the organization, a non-profit dedicated to providing free legal services to low-income Nevadans, to close one office and lay off members of its staff.
In an effort to continue with their mission, organizers started looking for ways to save and concluded that if they could free up the money used for office supplies, NLS could save $30,000 to $40,000 per year. With that in mind, NLS is conducting an office supply scavenger hunt and hoping local law firms will get involved.
On Friday, March 23, NLS representatives will go door to door to Nevada law firms and request donations of common office items, including: paper clips, printer paper, envelopes, pens and markers. Every firm that donates will be recognized at NLS' Annual Champions of Justice Luncheon. For more information on Nevada Legal Services and its mission, please visit the NLS website.
