The Animal Law Section's next meeting is set for Thursday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Law Offices of Koeller, Nebeker, Carlson & Haluck, LLP, located at 300 S. Fourth Street, Suite 500, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Reminder: E-Mail Addresses Now Required
Please remember that every bar member is now required to provide an e-mail address to the State Bar of Nevada. An amendment made on October 21, 2011 to Nevada Supreme Court Rule 79 requires that all members disclose their e-mail addresses. Members may update or add e-mail addresses by logging into the state bar's website.

Volunteer Award Nominations
State Bar of Nevada members work hard to contribute to our organization, donating countless hours of volunteer time every year. In recognition of these members' efforts, the state bar has created three membership awards, and is currently seeking nominees to receive these recognitions.
Nominations for the 2011 calendar year must be received no later than April 12, 2012. Award recipients will be honored at the State Bar of Nevada Annual Meeting, which takes place June 27-30, 2012 at the Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado, California.

Labor and Employment Section CLE and Mixer in Reno
Treat your intellect and your appetite by joining the Labor and Employment Section of the State Bar of Nevada for some free CLE, appetizers and social interaction with colleagues. A CLE entitled Dissecting Faragher and Ellerth: A discussion from the plaintiff and defense perspectives will take place on March 1 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Siena Hotel and Casino in Reno. A panel discussion, featuring Jeff Dickerson, Rebecca Bruch, Robert Spretnak and Jeff Winchester, will be moderated by section chair Laura Thalacker.
A mixer featuring soft drinks and appetizers will follow the CLE from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. No-host cocktails will be available. Attendance is free for Labor and Employment Section members and $25 for nonmembers. The attendance fee will be waived for those who join the section.

Family Court Bench Bar Meeting

LRIS Grant Money Available
The State Bar of Nevada is accepting applications for the LRIS Public Service Grant Program. Nevada organizations that fund law-related public service and/or law-related education activities are eligible to receive awards.
The grant awards are made annually on a "funds available" basis. All applications are subject to review and final approval by the State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors.

YLS seeks Nevada Lawyer Guest Columnist
The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) Executive Council needs a young lawyer to be a guest writer for the June edition of the YLS column in Nevada Lawyer magazine. The columnist must be 36 years old or younger or have been in practice for 5 years or less, and be a dues-paying member of the Young Lawyers Section.
The topic for the June column is "Children and the Law." The column should be between 700 and 900 words.
If you are interested in stepping in as a guest writer, please submit an outline of your article to Paola Armeni at [email protected] by no later than Friday, March 9.
