The Environmental and Natural Resources Section meets on a quarterly basis. The section is designed to enhance the practice of all aspects of environmental law. Its members include the top environmental practitioners in Nevada. The Environmental and Natural Resources section will provide its members with regular updates on hot topics in environmental law, both at section meetings and through formal day-long seminars.

Young Lawyers Section Social

 

The Young Lawyer Section (YLS) of the State Bar of Nevada is holding its first annual “Reconnect after the Holidays” mixer in Las Vegas on Friday, January 20. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. The venue is the interesting and eclectic Artifice, located at 1025 First St., #3, near Charleston and Casino Center.

 

The Boyd School of Law Alumni Association and the Clark County Bar Association are co-promoting the mixer, which is the first of several the YLS has planned for 2012. Other social events will take place in March, July and October. The state bar’s E-Newsletter will provide further details as those dates approach.

Do You Have What it Takes to Coach the Next Generation of Lawyers?

 

The State Bar of Nevada’s Transitioning into Practice (TIP) program is asking experienced attorneys to serve as mentors to newly admitted attorneys.

 

Beginning in April of 2012, mentors will be paired with new attorneys for six-month training sessions geared toward assisting them in acquiring the practical skills and judgment necessary to practice law in Nevada. For more information or to apply visit the state bar’s website.

 

The deadline for mentor applications is January 2, 2012.

Applications Welcomed for Nevada Continuing Legal Education Board

 

The Nevada CLE Board is seeking two attorneys to serve on its board. This is a working board; applicants must be willing to attend quarterly meetings, rotated between Reno, Las Vegas and rural areas. To maintain equal state representation, the board currently needs members from southern Nevada or the rural areas.

 

Applicants should submit letters of interest and resumes to the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education, attention Toni Sarocka, Executive Director, 457 Court St., Reno, NV 89501. The submission deadline is February 28, 2012.
